5/5 My partner and I were staying in the Yorkshire dales for a week away. We passed this hotel/pub and stopped for some lunch and boy are we glad we did. The host was extremely friendly and attentive giving us some advice for local cheese places and menu recommendations. He also gave our cockerpoo some water and said there is a doggy menu! I went with his recommendation of the steak and ale pie which comes with chips, veg and gravy. My girlfriend had the leek and potato soup which came with a bread roll that looked like a mini loaf of bread which was quaint! She said it was the nicest soup she has had in a very long time, possible ever. The pie was superb. Not greasy at all, lovely and crisp on the top and soft on the sides with huge chunks of prime shredded and chunky beef. It was delicious. The veg was rustic chunky cut carrots, parsnips and cabbage. It was cooked really nicely. Soft but not sloppy and it was seasoned well. Thoroughly recommend and we will come back for the roast dinner this Sunday before we leave! Thanks for a lovely lunch! I was too keen to get into it I forgot to picture the pie!

Went for lunch with friends and what a lovely lunch we had.The warm turkey baguette with stuffing and gravy was spot on with lovely chips and salad followed by cheese cake. Excellent service highly recommend ,lovely new owners 👌 Thank you we will be back

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful valentines dinner in their gorgeous restaurant. Enjoyed the sharer menu which was incredible. Wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff. A vibrant, busy place and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Under new ownership, Pippa and her staff were very friendly and made you feel welcomed. The food and rooms were just amazing. You have to try the venison pie! It’s in a great location in a North Yorkshire village. Easy access. Would highly recommend.

Dry January? Just paid £4 for a half of apple juice. That's £8 a pint. No wonder people drink and drive? Neither can be justified. The beer and Guinness is reasonably priced so how can you justify such a discrepancy. It's socially and moraly wrong.
