This historic hotel seems somewhat "quirky" but it is also very pleasant, and even has a (small) outdoor swimming pool, and it is right in the centre of Gibraltar's old town, with most of the major sights (other than Europa Point, but including the bottom station of the cable car to the top of the Rock) nearby. The communal areas of the hotel have a mixture of neoclassical/ baroque and art deco decorations and fittings, and my room was pleasant and comfortable, with it's own bathroom and TV with both English and Spanish channels (including BBC News). The staff were friendly and (not surprisingly) fluent in both English and Spanish. The breakfast was perhaps a little disappointing. There was cereal (with milk), bread (and a toaster) and pastries, with jam and marmalade available, plus boiled eggs and cheese, but limited fruit options and no scrambled or fried eggs or omelettes. Otherwise, though, a pleasant place to stay, and handy for pretty much all the major sights.
