Be mindful about very busy and noisy street that the hotel is located on.

This hotel is the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The staff are the stars of the whole place, keeping it beautifully clean and doing all they can to make your stay lovely. Eva makes the best aperol spritz while the kitchen makes a mean gyros and club sandwich. The pool area is small but perfectly formed. Yes the beach is stony but this doesn’t detract from the beauty of the bay and the view over to Rethymno old town. And did I say the air conditioning is fantastic! It is a short walk into the old town (20 mins) which we loved or a cheap taxi ride. Altogether, we have lived our stay at Petradi beach! If you want flashy, don’t bother. If you want a lovely, genuinely Cretan small hotel experience then I would absolutely recommend a stay here x

Just home from a week at Petradi and I don’t normally write reviews but felt like I needed to for this holiday. Here are MY positive and negatives. Obviously some of my positives may be your negatives and vise versa. My negatives Location. There is not much to do close by. A couple of overpriced restaurants. One tiny horrible supermarket (if you can call it that) No cute little gift shops, supermarkets or tavernas. The front of the hotel is horrible, run down in places and is a place you would just ‘pass through’ and the road is very very busy. It’s a 20 minute walk into the Old Town (which is beautiful!) Pool. I’ve never experienced this before but the pool is closed until 11am!! And I mean cordoned off closed. Not sure why as no one did anything to the pool before it opened for the whole week we were there. Everyone is literally sweating waiting for it to open. It’s also ridiculously deep - for the entire pool. So you can either use a float or cling on to the edge - which gets very boring after a while. And it’s small. There’s a tiny kids pool you can sit in but if there are lots of kids this isn’t ideal. Beach. I was so excited to be based directly on a beach! But the beach is awful. No sand (a tiny bit that they’ve managed to put a few sun loungers on) just lots of large pebbles that make getting into the sea really really difficult. And once you’re in the sea - that’s where it gets worse! The sand is so compact and full of what I can only describe as ‘craters’ it’s even harder to walk on. You will need shoes to go into the sea here. It was actually amusing watching people go in and out as you can’t do it with grace. It was a very unpleasant experience. Food. The breakfast. Two words - don’t bother! It was awful. It’s served from 7.30-10.30 and was always cold. We even tried at 7.45 and guess what - it was cold! I only had the coffee from the machine and if they had mini croissants I’d have those but apart from that we went to a bakery next door but that adds cost. They serve lunch 12-3 and that’s it. You can’t get food after that. So really you have to go into the old town or overpay at one of the overpriced restaurants. They’ve got a lovely seating area overlooking the sea - would be great to have a choice to eat after 3pm. We got a takeaway a couple of nights and sat in the seating area. Sun loungers. There aren’t enough for the size of the hotel. And those lovely beanbags in the photos? They’re filthy! And water stained and many go to one side where they’ve been used so much. They either need replacing or a good clean. Positives The room. Even though they put us in the wrong room when we arrived (I paid for a duplex - they put us in a standard room and we had to wait until the next day to be moved) the views of the sea are incredible. We were on the second floor (rooms 405 then 410) and I could’ve sat on the balcony all day looking at that view. Quite possibly the best view I’ve ever had from a balcony and it made my holi

We had a lovely two-week stay at the lovely Petradi Beach Hotel. We arrived very late at night and the friendly night porter showed us to our rooms. We were made feel welcome the following morning by the reception staff who were always very helpful and friendly. We got information and bookings on trips and local restaurants. The room was compact, clean and comfortable with good AC, TV, hairdryer and fridge. It's a little short on storage space but very manageable. The room was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent maid service. It is a one-mile walk into the old town. If you don't like to walk there is a bus stop straight across the street with a regular service which costs €1.20. The breakfast buffet is good with a wide choice of hot and cold food. Breakfast on the beach every morning was a delight. The pool bar menu is good with plenty of drinks and food choices. We loved the Salads and Club sandwich washed down with a half litre of chilled white wine. There are also some really good restaurants in the locality. Overall a great hotel and a great holiday. Located next to the beach. Our room over looking the sea. Rooms are comfortable. Clothing storage could be better. We actually kept some smaller bits in the suit case. But not a major issue. Take coat hangers with you. There are plenty but we did use all we took too. No gripes about the room really, we mainly used it for sleeping anyway. (But we were in 205 on the ground floor above the breakfast room. It is noisy with doors banging. If you are a light sleeper ask for a move) Staff are very friendly and helpful. The sea is very stony/rocky. Beach shoes will help if you like to take a dip

This was the perfect hotel for us, small, intimate and quiet. we had our very own beach with the menu served to us on our loungers whilst we sunbathed. The hotel was freshly refurbished and very contemporary, with lots of character. We were less the a mile from the old town of Rethymon, with it's narrow streets and many eateries and family ran shops. I would highly recommend, both the hotel and the old town which were remarkable in their character and historic landmarks.

. The room was a nice size with a very comfortable large bed. It was serviced every day (bar Sunday) and was very clean. The shower is lovely but the temperature did fluctuate wildly. You would need to be careful with children as the hot water is scalding. There is very little storage space for clothes and personal items resulting in the room often looking messy and resulting in living out of your suitcase. For a 2 week stint that was not enjoyable. The rooms desperately need some sort of shelving and storage system We chose to pay extra for a sea view. We were so glad we did as the road is very busy and extremely noisy. Rooms on the roadside would struggle with noise pollution. There are lots of different areas for people to sit and relax in the sunshine by the beach and by the pool. The areas are all serviced by a poolside bar. The staff worked very hard keeping everywhere clean and tidy. Food wise there was a limited menu which is only available till 4pm (the bar is open until late). On the whole, the staff were very efficient and mostly pleasant. However, the manager was very un- welcoming, unfriendly, unapproachable and came across as being rude. He never once engaged in any conversation or even pleasantries throughout a 2 week stay. One of my main concerns regarding this hotel is the lack of accommodation for mobility issues, meaning my safety was often at risk. There are no hand rails on most stair cases. The stairs are marble- which look lovely but are lethal (especially when wet). The 2 rails that are in place are actually too low to be useful. There is a lift but some of the stairs are unavoidable. I have slight mobility issues and have struggled, but people with more severe mobility issues would not be able to function in this hotel. The access to the pool was very difficult- able bodied- younger people struggled too. I scraped the skin on both legs on my 1st and only attempt to access it. Due to the broken skin I avoided the sea/ pool to avoid infections. We never had a good coffee in the hotel , too cold, too strong , not strong enough ! We were told off by bar staff for daring to bring a take away coffee into the pool area. However, plenty of people were allowed to smoke in this same area. Which we would deem as more of an issue than a take away coffee. In spite of all of this we had a lovely 2 week break but sadly some of the things I enjoy to do on holiday like swim in the pool were not possible for me at this hotel. Sadly we wouldn’t return or recommend to anyone with any slight mobility issue

For the price paid this hotel was excellent. Air con excellent, stayed in three hotels on this holiday and I had the best sleep here. Lovey lady on reception, sea view, little bar by pool. Breakfast was included, this wasn’t great but for the price can’t complain. Walkable to centre, although not in the best area, quite commercial on the busy main road.

We had a wonderfull experience here. The staff is so friendly and helpful, only positive vibes☺️ rooms very cosy, neat, the view is very nice. We really enjoyed staying here. The best regards to the staff who works here. ☺️
