I'm flabbergasted at the four star reviews, which prompted me to write one. The Fort is a MOST interesting place, heritage listed. The place is filled by the current Raj's personal inherited stuff- stuffed tigers, old camera's saddles, bric a brac, old photos and more. Several photos show a previous maharaja in his Roll's Royce. The village market outside the gates of the Fort bustling dirty and fun. The current Raj inherited the place in 1927- its a time warp and all development and maintenance stopped at that time. Our room, up several flights of stairs was pretty DISGUSTING, the toilet area dirty and revolting, the bed and room smelt of cement dust, the dining table and serving mats un-wiped. The place is filthy, but interesting. To give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the other rooms had been renovated, but ours certainly wasn't. I wouldn't dream of staying there again, BUT it's a shame, the venue has HUGE potential, but would need massive upgrading and investment, tender love and care and customers.
