Adoba® Hotel Naubinway

We have stayed at the Adoba several times while visiting our son. Each time, we have been very happy. The staff is friendly, the hotel is quiet, beds were comfy. We like being able to walk to Moofinfries and Village Pizza which are close. We requested and received a fridge and microwave. We will return again - this is a good choice!

Do not make the mistake I did. I saw a few negative reviews, and more good than bad, so we booked this MOTEL. Make no mistake, it is a MOTEL, not a HOTEL as the name suggests, and it is a 'dive' motel at that. This is clearly a bait-and-switch situation. The picture in the listing makes it look like these are little cottages. They are NOT. We booked 2 nights and upon our arrival, we immediately contacted a hotel representative by text message to report how awful this room was. The carpeting was sticky, the walls were dirty, especially in the bathroom with very bad drywall repairs. The room smelled bad when we walked in, and there was a cigarette burn in the curtain of this non-smoking room. There was no hot water for a shower, and the bathtub faucet was cracking off the wall. The baseboard heater around the perimeter of the room was broken and falling off, leaving sharp edges and a hazard, although someone had attempted to secure it to the wall with duct tape. There was a thick layer of dust in several places. Everything felt so gross to us that we brought in our own clean sheet to place over the sheets on the bed. We asked for a full refund, but we were told we had to start that process through the third party hotel vendor. However, they were unable to reach the owner (how convenient!) so the third party vendor could not issue us a refund. We reached out to the representative of the owner again, and never heard back from anyone authorized to refund us what we paid.

This place was great! Easy check in via text. It was clearly slow season since there was not a lot open but we were prepared since we were in the UP. The bed and shower were awesome. Room was very clean and housekeeping was friendly. All we could ask for in our quick trip through the Upper Peninsula!
