This hotel is very good. Very good indeed. It’s clean, tidy and looks like it’s been recently renovated. It’s a two-minute stroll to the lake front in Garda. The same to the bus station (for trips elsewhere or to/from the airport) and local shops and restaurants – everything is within easy reach. The rooftop - pool, bar and sun deck - is superb with a great view over the lake. It is fundamentally an adult only hotel as there are only two family rooms. The staff are permanently happy and obliging. We could not fault the food at breakfast or on the rooftop. Ditto the drinks. However, while I’d like to give the hotel five stars, I cannot. And that’s because of the ambient road noise (a problem in room 208 certainly, but most likely in the others too) as the double glazing did nothing other than keep the rain out. The noise made sleeping a trial. Vehicle engines, people talking – whatever – were as clear as a bell inside the room as out. It is true that we are light sleepers. Equally, it must be recognised that the hotel isn’t in the middle of nowhere. But in comparison, a recent three-night stay in Prague (Hotel Grandior) which was situated on a main thoroughfare into the city, saw us also in a double-glazed room, also with a roadside perspective, sleeping in perfect silence despite passing trams, buses, lorries and emergency vehicles. So, would we come back to the Sole? Yes, we would, but *only* if we could have a room with confirmed working double glazing or which was further away from the road (it’s a small hotel bounded on two sides by roads). Anything otherwise is just not very relaxing.
