The Herons Rest Townhouse B&B

The location was great. Overlooking the sea and only a few minutes walk into the main restaurant bar area of Galway. The kitchen was well set up, and the breakfast hamper was much appreciated. The house was very clean and comfortable for 4 adults, but there are stairs, particularly to the main bedroom. A lovely place to come home to.

We really enjoyed our stay in Galway, and our accommodation at the Herons Rest was perfect. We were delighted to discover some thoughtful touches like local jam and butter in the fridge, and a loaf of bread from a nearby bakery. The downstairs is living space with a sofa and chairs, and a kitchen with bar seats. The kitchen is well appointed, with all you need to make a simple meal. The upstairs is the bedroom and bathroom. There is plenty of space to put your luggage and hang clothing. The location is really the best--just steps from the rushing Corrib river and the Latin Quarter, and an easy walk to the town center and train station

The Heron’s Rest is a fantastic place to stay while in Galway. Very central with views out over the water. Spotlessly clean, everything you need, thoughtful details and perfect for a tranquil nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious, using local produce and also caters for gluten free guests. 5/5

The Heron's Rest Townhouse is a gem in the shamrock of Galway; minutes away from the Spanish Arch, Galway City Museum, and the Latin Quarter- but proximity is only the tip of the iceberg to staying here. The apartment is four floors and immaculate in terms of cleanliness and stocked full of amenities. To name a few: Projector on the fourth floor to conduct a movie night using your own streaming services; a shelf library and reading area to catch up on all your Irish Literary icons; a fully stocked kitchen with utensils, dishes, cutlery, and pans; food and beverages including juice and milk, eggs, condiments, charcuterie items such as Smoked Salmon, Irish Cheese, Bread, granola, and cherry tomatoes. I made open-faced Smoked Salmon and Tomato Tartines for breakfast with their specialty select items- so good! Instructions are provided for all of the logistics in terms of parking, as well as appliances through their own App which you can download to your phone. If you are the next guest to stay here-- you will agree with me -- that it is tantamount to finding a four leaf clover in the heather on the hill-- you are super lucky and you will not regret it-- and the memories you produce within this haven of an accommodation will be indelible.

We LOVED our stay at the Heron's Rest. We were traveling to Ireland with Galway as our base and wanted to be in walking distance to shopping, pubs, etc. and we certainly were! Beautiful views of the harbor. Sorcha was and excellent communicator and even put up a couple of happy birthday signs for my husband's 60th birthday. When you book online they provide a breakfast hamper - which was excellent! So nice to have some lovely food items available upon arrival. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Great location! The management took great care of us. Very comfortable accommodations. Nice car park. Most lovely harbor surrounding the B&B with gorgeous swans. When we arrived, we had eggs, bread, yogurt, granola, cheese, apple juice, milk, ham, salmon and many other treats stocked in our unit.
