Had a good two nights stay in the Pestana Casino Studios as part of a group walking trip. Rooms were ok, but a bit tired and on a cross road of two roads so there was quite a lot of road noise. There was a small outdoor pool and loungers, but you also got access to the large Casino hotel opposite which has an amazing pool and indoor area with pool, sauna, steam rooms, jacuzzi etc, so we didnt use the pool at the studios. The breakfast is also across the road at the casino hotel which is really good, but can get very busy later on. Helpful friendly reception and can store luggage is needed.

We stayed two nights. Felt more like a capsule hotel than a 4-star hotel. Main access is via an external stairs/lift. Our room was immediately off the landing so close to the main road. Even with the windows closed, bus noise was annoying. My partner found herself trapped in the bathroom as the sliding door was trapped. This was fixed promptly. A walk to the main hotel for all facilities.

last minute winter break booked day before flight so choose casino studios as this second visit so know its perfect for us . always pay extra for sea view as this more tranquil as like to sleep with balcony doors open so no road noise plus like watching cruise ships leave, neighbouring hotel steam, sauna ,pool ,gym perfect every morning as free and had the place to ourselves between 8.30 and 10 as other hotel guest at breakfast . we only used hotel cooking facility's hob for coffee and kettle for tea . good takeaway place 5 mins away at o nosso cantinha for €9 lunch deal soup, main ,drink takeaway enough for 2 . this perfect to walk into funchal and booked Teatro Municipal Baltazar Dias twice for live music amazing and only £11 each and only 12 minute walk so perfect night . every receptionist was lovely and helpful and cleaning very good .

These apartments are in a good area, distance wise from the town, walkable and on a good bus route. We stayed on the top floor on the Sea facing side of the block overlooking the pool. It is on a very busy main road so this side a slightly quieter. The street behind the block, shown on the picture has a brilliant little shop called 'Peter's' close by which we used a lot, plus further along the street lots of restaurants and other shops. Also lots on the main road, both sides. The hotel staff here were all brilliant and very helpful and friendly. The room spacious and spotless, small balcony but has a table and 2 chairs which we ate at. The small kitchen area has One powerful electric ring and a combo microwave. We couldn't work out how to use the grill and oven in it though, no instruction book. Equipment minimal but doable. I asked for 2 large dining plates as only 3 side plates, 3 cups and bowls plus tumblers. I had taken a wooden spoon, sharp knife, peeler and tongues which helped, also a tea towel. Small sponge and dishcloth provided with a very small washing up liquid provided but this could be refilled by the cleaners. We cooked quite a lot just had to plan it. Used the large supermarkets in town for meat, fish etc. The pool here was small but good. And sun loungers good and some sheltered. The trees are more grown than on the picture shown. We went to the main hotel to sunbath, lots of areas to choose from. My only problem was I could not book a spa treatment in the main hotel. No staff on the Spa centre desk, had to do it on-line using the QR code which proved a problem. Must have spent about 3 hours on and off then gave up. the main hotel staff told me to use the QR Code. Spent a really enjoyable 2 weeks here.
