Hotel Rural Almazara

A really nice traditional hotel in the hills close to Frigiliana and above Nerja. Our room was large with a nice balcony with views down to the coast. The bathroom was also large. There's a nice pool at the hotel and the restaurant is very good with lovely home cooked food available in the evening (and nice views at sunset) and a good quality breakfast. A good choice if you want to be away from the tourists at the coast.

Just back from a lovely relaxing weeks stay. We loved it! It is kinds of built into the hillside so all the rooms have the most amazing sea/mountain views. The rooms are good size and alot of care has been taken with the decor etc to keep the place 'authentic'. The staff are super and we really enjoyed the food. The scallops are just gorgous. Paddy loved the prawns. Having said that we tried pretty much everything on the menu and enjoyed every dish. We hired a car (as it was less than tranfer) but if you dont fancy driving you can easy manage without one. If you just want to chill out the food/service and drinks are great at the hotel. If you fancy a change there is a 24/7 diner 10 min walk down the hill (wear comfy shoes its VERY steep on the walk back up!) Taxi to Nerja is about 10 euro and you more organised than we are there is a bus on main road. It was lovely and relaxing to have drinks on the terrace taking in the views and beautiful weather. Middle of Nov and 23 degrees every day of our stay!. We enjoyed chilling and reading around the pool (not brave enough to go in it mind). This place is a little diamond and we look forward to return visit in next 5/6 months. Miguel/Carole and the team do a wonderful job and you can see they actually love what they do.

Positives: We loved the pool and the great breakfast with an amazing view from the patio and our room patio too. It was nice being half way between Nerja beaches and Frigiliana. Negatives: The a/c didn't work well and it was still warm for sleeping. The internet was very slow. The beds were old and not very comfortable and room felt outdated. Limited amount of parking spots.

There was no lock on the door except the outer lock which could be opened by sliding a credit card or "do not disturb" hanger in the door jamb. The room safe was broken and unusable. There was no hot water in the sink. There was no wash cloth. The inside pool is NOT free as stated in the original rental but costs 12 Euros extra for an hour. The outside swimming pool is a long walk down a steep and dangerous walkway. The road leading up to the hotel is a narrow, one-lane drive with incredibly sharp curves. I have no idea what we would have to do if we encountered a car coming toward us. The manager was rude to my wife when she showed him the posting that didn't say it was extra to use the indoor pool. Instead of taking responsibility himself, he pulled up the Spanish language version that did say the pool cost extra and said we needed to take it up with ******* when he should have been the one to do that. The breakfast was good. The view from our balcony was good. It was affordable because it was nowhere near the ocean.

Posizione ottima, camera spartana (mancano punti di appoggio). Le pulizie lasciano a desiderare, in una settimana non ci hanno mai cambiato né le lenzuola né gli asciugamani, in vasca si trovavano capelli che non erano nostri (dopo le “pulizie”). La piscina interna è tetra (oltre che a pagamento), quella esterna poco pulita. Avevamo regime di mezza pensione, la colazione accettabile, la cena si sceglieva primo secondo e dolce del menù alla carta (che non cambia mai). Cucina molto “carica”, pesante per chi, come noi, non è abituato tanto ai fritti e salse. Da risaltare l’attenzione di Miguel e Carol in sala ristorante, persone straordinariamente simpatiche e cordiali.

Terrible!No es un hotel rural, parece un Hostel o pensión de mala calidad. Todo descuidado y personal maleducado y poco profesional. Nunca había encontrado un servicio menos cualificado. No es para nada un hotel de tres estrellas y los trabajadores dejan muuucho que desear...
