Hotel Donatello

This hotel is down right disgusting. We showed up excited because the pictures looked cute and it a good walking distance. The female front desk worker is rude, the sheets have blood stains on them after switching rooms and the worst part, is we found bed bugs. They refuse to refund us and are making us stay in their infested hotel. Do not come here. Pay the extra money and stay anywhere else.

Great hotel in Florence! 24hr front desk, great breakfast with plenty of options, beautiful green space in the interior, plus nice sized room. Right by a bus stop and park. Mile walk to the Uffizi gallery.

The family run hotel was beautiful and the staff/family is very welcoming and accommodating. All touristic places were in walking distance, restaurants near where very good. We had forgotten our wedding ring and they returned it to us and helped in finding it. All in all will go back again !

This place is clean with good location, security and breakfast. The clerk was helpful. Only issue was with mosquitoes. There is a bus to the Central train station but it's walking distance anyways. Everything in Florence is also walking duy

Hotel was nice and clean and the staff was helpful. It is close enough to walk to the tourist areas but far enough away that it is really not that close. Close enough to train station for a quick walk or ride (with luggage). We did both and it took about 10-15 min either way. Close to Accademia Gallery. Park area in front was fine during the day but some homeless sleeping there at night. Room was spacious for 4 people and the view overlooked the park. Everything close enough that can be walked.

Good day, this is one of the best hotel that we stayed in, from the Amazing and Beautiful structure going to the best service coming from Mr. Adriane at the reception and the owner is very Accommodating, our is one of the best in that hotel and the breakfast outside the garden is WoW

The hotel has a lot of charm and the rooms are all unique. It’s in a great location and is close to excellent restaurants and main attractions. There’s a beautiful garden courtyard and staff was friendly. Adrian, who runs the front desk over night, was definitely the highlight of our stay. We were there with a school group and he looked out for our students overnight. He was super friendly and gave us great advice on where to visit while in Florence. Amazing hospitality!! We stayed here for five nights while visiting Florence. The hotel is in a good location with a vast array of restaurants nearby, we particularly liked Il Vegano nearby which was terrific value and great food. ( we are not related to the owners of Il Vegano, we just liked it). There’s also a Carrefour mini market not far away which came in handy for supplies. The hotel has some attractive original features but is a bit shabby and run down. Our room was somewhat dingy and the bed not very comfortable. Didn’t mind it during the day, but after dark it didn’t feel particularly relaxing or welcoming. The TV wouldn’t work though we were out a lot and weren’t bothered about watching telly. We had a great shower which made up for other shortcomings. There’s a pleasant garden courtyard at the back of the hotel where we had breakfast a few mornings. Breakfast itself needs to be upgraded considering the price of the hotel. Some suggestions would be less cakes and pastries, even although they were tasty, most people don’t want a load of cakes to start the day. A better choice of savoury options such as a range of cheeses, meat and nice bread and some salad or omelettes or scrambled eggs. Better quality cereals, eg muesli and fruit salad that isn’t out of a tin. The main irritation was the receptionist insisting that we leave our room key at reception every time we left the building. We did this a few times at first as we were concerned that if we didn’t it might be used as an excuse for not cleaning the room each day. However after day three we gave up handing it over. Another hotel guest had problems closing and locking her door, this was dealt with by another older receptionist in a very grumpy fashion. We had a good holiday but if we return to Florence it won’t be to Hotel Donatello. Have stayed in much better hotels for a considerably cheaper rate.
