A tale of two hotels. We stayed first at the Four Seasons for five nights - separate review and then came on to Maradiva. Having read the reviews for the Maradiva we knew we were coming to somewhere special. Arrival We were welcomed and shown to a golf buggy for a tour of the resort. No welcome drink but a fleeting greeting with the Manager. A young lady with beautifully manicured nails took us on a very swift tour of the resort. There was no warmth just cold professionalism. We were driven also to see the celebrity garden where all their famous clients have planted a tree. It was clear we were supposed to be impressed but that kind of thing does not interest nor impress us. As it is, the trees are planted to close together and it looks more like a pet cemetery than anything else. The Room Our room was beautiful inside. It can’t be faulted. The outside sitting area was beautiful too however the pool area had no view and looked onto the backs of all the other villas. A small fence would have perhaps allowed it to feel more enclosed. The small plunge pool is beautiful. You can however hear your neighbours and the building work as they are all close by. We were unfortunate and happened to have vocal neighbours as well as the building work. See photos. Had we been staying longer we would have asked for a note to be left with the room next door. The light floods the bedroom early on as the door between the bathroom and the bedroom allows light through. So take a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper. The Restaurants Breakfast: The best. A superb breakfast. A La carte and beautifully cooked. Evening Meals We were half board but planned to use the credit as we do in every hotel we stay in. On the first night we ate in the main restaurant and had a nice meal. At the end of the meal the new Food & Beverages Manager came up to us and announced there had been a mistake and we shouldn’t have been able to choose the food we had eaten as we are on half board. Quietly my husband explained to him that there wasn’t an issue as this is easily resolved by deducting the credit from the half board. The manager however felt the need to emphasise once again that we really shouldn’t have been able to eat what we ate but it was the hotels mistake and tomorrow would be given a different menu. Because he spoken such a loud voice, he got the attention of all the tables around us, which was most embarrassing. No matter how much we emphasised that this wasn’t a problem. This new manager felt the need to let us know that the board menu is different and we were only half board. Never have we been so humiliated in a hotel of this standard, in all our years of travel. Very poor and very unprofessional . having stayed in another hotels on the West Coast of Mauritius, on the return from the meal we considered leaving the hotel and moving elsewhere. From that evening afterwards we chose to eat down at the beach where there was no issue in simply adding to the half boar

We have had the most amazing trip at Maradiva. The service, the villas, the food - outstanding! Stunning interior. Already planning our trip back! Babida and the housekeeping team looked after us during our stay! Adarsh was so wonderful serving cocktails on the beach too! The chef from Haiku created a beautiful tasting experience for us too. Thank you so much - we will be back!

Overall, The entire experience was incredible! The resort offers so much privacy you can think of. The newly renovated villas are magnificent, and your own private pool is unbeatable. The food is gorgeous with 4 different restaurants- our favourites were Haika and the Indian Cilantro. Chef Modasseer& kitchen team were utterly superb and gave us truly wonderful meals when we ate there. The staff are honestly the nicest and most welcoming that we have ever encountered. The spa was just exquisite - the massages were absolute bliss for both my wife and I. Dinesh recommended the shirodara massage and this was such a joy !! Ashvin our butler was always on hand if we needed anything - from a restaurant booking or a doctor for my wife’s mosquito bite. He is a great addition to the Maradiva team. The gym facilities and trainers were fantastic - they gave me classes and tuition and I really benefited from it. Everything to the smallest detail is thought of and everyone and everything is exceeding your expectations on every aspect. I would recommend Maradiva for its attention to detail and luxury - we will be back next year without a doubt.

We've spent 12 nights in this wonderful hotel. I don't know where to start. Everything has been perfect, from the Butler to the Head Manager of the hotel. Food was just amazing with different dishes every night. We will be back very soon. Thanks Dinesh, Sephora, Akil, and those i've forgotten.

This was a quick one week break with tranquility, luxury and relaxation in mind. The moment we arrived at Maradiva we knew the hotel was going to hit the mark, we were welcomed into a beautiful reception by the hotel team and resort Manager Bernard. The grounds of the hotel are surrounded by greenery and flowers all around with the stunning backdrop of the beach and blue sea. Our villa went beyond expectations, there was ample indoor and outdoor space … tasteful decor throughout and was immaculately clean, parts of the hotel have recently been renovated so it felt like everything was very nice and new. Beach - spotless clean, plenty of sun-beds for guests with food and drink available by awaiting staff. We ate at all the restaurants at the hotel, the quality was brilliant to the point there was not even one meal which disappointed. The Haiku restaurant was great and a must do for a little light chef entertainment while you eat … a big call out to chef Modasseer who made us an amazing dinner twice :) Breakfast was plentiful and of a great quality and variety, my stay was made so much more enjoyable thanks to Akeel who arranged a Mauritian breakfast order for me for the entire week, this by far was my favourite meal of the day everyday! - I hope you get to read this review Akeel, you were awesome! The spa was clean, tranquil and provided great facilities, I also had a great massage by the lovely masseuse Varoona - I’d highly recommend this to anyone visiting. All the spa staff were lovely. There are nothing but good things to say about our stay at Maradiva, the hotel is exceptional as is the service provided by the attentive and friendly staff. A special thank you to Bernard, Ash, Akeel, Daanesh, Dinesh and Ludovic, your hospitality and humour made this an even better stay for us :) Regards Aruna & Stuart

We had a wonderful time at Maradiva. A beautiful serene resort with excellent staff. The cleanliness and upkeep was outstanding. We enjoyed all our meals, they catered to our taste and the food was delicious. The villas are gorgeous and spacious, the views are amazing and we had a very relaxing time. A big shout out to some of the staff members who were very helpful! Thank you to Ash, Deepak, Kenny, Pritila and the rest of the team! The hotel was amazing. The staff was really friendly. Beach was so beautiful and the hotel offers snorkeling and other activities within the hotel. We also enjoyed the breakfast. The rooms were clean and beautiful. The service was top class. Overall we really liked the stay in the hotel. The downside was that there are no walking distance restaurants around the area. The restaurants within the hotel are ok but not the best. The only good one to mention is the beachhouse grill restaurant. We also had problems with our AC which we couldn’t fix for the 4 nights we had despite mentioning to the maintenance team.
