Ferrel Surf House - Hostel

We come to Ferrel surf House since some years and it’s always a good time with perfect learning to improve surfing, relaxed vibes and a perfect breakfast! Before we start in the morning, Rui is watching all possible spots to find the best place to surf for the day. We will come back , Thanks to Rui an his Team

as a volunteer I arrive, my phone broke on the plane, I get in arrived late night prob my phone too. next door didn't meet manager he help me taxi bank linked phone didn't I going google maps, contact my family don't use Facebook m my laptop x. maybe as guest if fabulous x as volunteer didn't phone broke, was on me, x they greeted me bit more help understanding I got bad anxiety ask me leave next day x don't if have mental health problems to go their otherwise be okx send me of next day no phone x, dropped hostels, pay for my phone broken, left me homeless lucky my friend Facebook maybe didn't understand my suitain important a phone is peace

This was my second visit at Ferrel Surf House and I will definitely come back again! Everyone that works there is so friendly and welcoming, it always feels like coming home. The house is beautiful with so many personal touches from the owner Rui and always clean thanks to the volunteers, lovely Ana and helpful Vasco. It doesn't matter if you come alone or with friends, you will definitely feel like a part of the family. But most importantly your surfing will greatly improve thanks to the wonderful team of instructors. I had the pleasure of learning from Pedro, who will probably always remain my favourite instructor (and one of my favourite people). He always knows where all of his students are and makes safety his top priority so you never feel scared or anxious even if the waves are strong and the lineup crowded. He will always remind you to relax, breathe and have fun and somehow will be able to tell exactly what you did wrong even if you don't really know yourself. I also had a lot of fun surfskating with Kim, who really helped me improve my positioning and technique on the board. They both really care about their students and are not only great instructors, but great friends too. If your are looking for a place with great vibes and awesome people, this is the place to go!

Surf House: I absolutely loved my stay with Ferrel surf house and lessons at the school and can’t wait to go back. The house is very clean, peaceful, beautifully decorated and bed comfortable. I booked the double room and had a lovely private balcony/mini terrace, very nice bathroom with powerful hot shower (so good after surfing) and comfy bed. 

Ana who looks after the house is so helpful and sweet; you know she is there if you need her and you also feel you have the run of the house, so can lounge in the living room, kitchen etc like it’s your own houseshare with friends.

This was my second time at Ferrel Surf House as solo traveler and it just feels like coming home. Ana is an amazing host managing the house and Rui, Pedro and Kim are probably the most caring surf instructors you’ll ever have. If you want to go somewhere to really learn and improve your technique, this is the right house for you! Everyone staying at the house are at different levels and I’m a beginner. I personally have had to work with overcoming my fear of the ocean and the waves so I take private lessons with Rui when I’m staying at the house. Not only does he manage to help me feel more comfortable in the water but he also pushes me pretty hard to not let my fears control me or stop me from learning and getting better. I can’t imagine it possible to find surf instructors that care as much, and that take the time and energy to go through even the problems you make in your own head - which is why the house and Rui are becoming very special to me. All the instructors care about you and are very engaged, encouraging and passionate about your progress, and even if you personally feel like quitting after a bad or overwhelming day, they will talk to you and make sure you want to go back out and try again. It’s also very easy to make friends and have fun since there is a lot of solo travelers and everyone I met there keep returning or want to return, so it definitely feels like a home away from home! 10/5!

I stayed at Ferrel Surf House for four nights and had a wonderful time! The house feels like a big family with morning chats at breakfast and weekly barbecue nights. I've previously stayed in other surf camps and the surf lessons at Ferrel are the definitely the best I've ever had. The surf coaches are so eager to see you improve and really want to help you build your surfing skills. In addition to technical advice they offer a lot of wise words when you get frustrated. I can whole-heartedly recommend the surf house to surfers at all levels!
