Hotel Duchessa Isabella Collection by Gsa Hotels

We stayed in a Hotiday room, 24, which I suspect is one of the budget rooms in this hotel. The hotel was in a fabulous location a few minutes walk from the castle and cathedral and the old city has a wonderful grid system so it is easy to navigate. Parking is through a side gate and then there are plenty of spaces but at €18 a day it is quite pricey. Check in was functional. The hotel was very grand but is now somewhat faded, think shabby chic with extra shabby. There was some wonderful old furniture dotted around but some of the stair carpets were loose, doors grated on the floor as they were closed, our coffee machine didn't work etc so it is in need of maintenance. Our room was a good size with a desk and plenty of power sockets and was very quiet, overlooking the back garden. There was no breakfast option, I'm not sure of that is a permanent change to the listing or a temporary glitch but there are plenty of places within five minutes walk. The provided internet service worked well. Insect screens would have been useful on the windows - there were no net curtains and we had constant trouble with mosquitoes, I know we should have prepared but we didn't and screens or net curtains would have helped. I was unsure whether to rate the hotel 3 or 4 but have given it the benefit of the doubt due to its great location.

This is luxury accommodation in a beautifully renovated 16th or 17th C palazzo at very reasonably tariff. The hotel is in a convenient location a 15 minute walk from the Castello Estenese and Duomo. The furniture in the public spaces is high quality antiques. I especially noted the stair landing with three "grandfather"clocks. The dining rooms for prima colazione are of an elegance that I suspect was carried over from its former life as a palazzo di una famiglia importante. My room on the top floor was done in rather feminine style and had its own little spiral staircase up to it's dormer window with views over gardens behind the hotel. It was extremely comfortable and tranquil. The staff at reception were engaging and charming. They were able to direct me one morning to a are school supply shop where I was able to purchase two of the flattish and spacious briefcases that Italian primary and middle school pupils use for thir books and supplies instead of too heavy back packs. I have only seen these in Italy. The staff had to do some research and they did it quite well. I would not hesitate to recommend Duchessa Usabella Hotel to anyone with discerning taste who is visiting Ferrara

Al nostro arrivo, veniamo accolti da un elegante concierge in maglietta da running e jeans, che ci accompagna allo spogliatoio e alla spa. Il primo trauma è stato proprio lo spogliatoio, nel quale non vi è alcuna panca / sedia per appoggiarsi, e nel quale le porte cadono letteralmente a pezzi (allego foto). Una volta cambiati, accediamo alla spa, nella quale regna una temperatura tutt’altro che piacevole. Il personale aveva scordato aperta una finestra, la sauna finlandese a “80 gradi scarsi” , il bagno turco decisamente meno, e la piscina idromassaggio anch’essa nemmeno tiepida. Prenotato per due ore, permanenza totale nella struttura di una. Quando ho fatto presente al personale, che la spa era fredda, mi è stato detto che era stato tutto acceso al nostro arrivo: “mica possiamo accendere tutto in anticipo, altrimenti sai quanto costa?!”. Alla richiesta di poter parlare con il direttore, il consierge mi informa di averlo già contattato lui, e che la spa era perfettamente in regola.. che sono l’unico cliente ad essersi lamentato della cosa, e che avrei fatto bene ad andare da un altra parte… lascio a voi eventuali conclusioni.

Eleganza, charme e tutti i comfort in un hotel di grande stile, in posizione fantastica per visitare una splendida città. Un salto nel passato con i comfort dell'era moderna! Consigliatissimo per una esperienza indimenticabile in coppia o in famiglia!

Il palazzo storico che ospita la struttura è molto affascinante,e la posizione è comoda, pur essendo vicino al centro non è in ztl. Tutto sommato noi ci siamo trovati abbastanza bene, ma sinceramente non si spiega come questo hotel possa vantare 5 stelle, se non per lo stellare prezzo del parcheggio a 18 euro al giorno. Mancano tanti requisiti: in camera manca il set di cortesia, il frigobar è vuoto, la televisione non funziona, il bagno è datato, con alcuni accessori sciupati. L' ascensore è molto rumoroso. Non è previsto il servizio colazione, e in generale, anche se gli arredi barocchi posdono essere di gusto, si respira un' atmosfera di decadenza, con carta da parati che si stacca dalle pareti e polvere su specchi, lampadari e un po' ovunque. Le potenzialità ci sono, ma ci sarebbe bisogno di molta più manutenzione.

Sconsigliato. Albergo che forse ha visto tempi migliori ma che al momento avrebbe bisogno di manutenzione. Cancello di entrata al parcheggio ( a pagamento 18 euro al giorno ) rotto, giardino sporco ed abbandonato. La camera avrebbe bisogno di imbiancata al soffitto, oramai nero, scopino del bagno rotto, asciugamani per il viso posizionati a 20 cm dal wc, coperta sporca e mobili impolverati. Anche no
