Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant

The Cottage at Farlam Hall was a magnificent stay. We all wished that we could have stayed for several more days just to enjoy the property. The spacious rooms and top end furnishings were excellent. The grounds were beautiful and perfect for a stroll or just taking in the view. Most of all, the staff went above and beyond at every turn. They assisted us with our plans and helped us with the logistics of our car rentals. . I cannot thank them enough. Lastly, we dined at Cedar Tree, which is an experience you must not miss. The food and the service exceeded our expectations. I don’t think I have ever had such a delightful meal. If you have the opportunity to stay at Farlam Hall do not pass it up.

We heard about Farlam Hall after hearing about Hrishi Desai's new venture. We already knew his food was beyond amazing so we decided to celebrate our Anniversary there. The new Bistro Enkel is delicious and because we stayed on a Tues and Wednesday, it meant we could experience Enkel and The Cedar Tree. We found the rooms too hot, even with the windows open. With no air con, a fan should be in every room. We had room 6, which has a fabulous view of the actual Cedar Tree in the grounds of Farlem. We felt very welcome, the staff are wonderful and we were very well looked after. The receptionist recommended some lovely walks, to see Hadrian's Wall and Talkin Tarn. Fabulous bathroom. No long mirror. We seemed to be the youngest there, despite being in our 50's, and we found that wanting to enjoy a cocktail after our evening meal meant we were the only ones in the lounge, which then lacked atmosphere and the background noise of chitter chatter. We were not pressured in any way to leave or feel awkward. They welcomed us to having a nightcap but everyone else had gone to bed. All in all, it was a wonder experience. Very calm, very chilled, beautiful gardens. It was also lovely that we had a good chat with one of the gardeners...thank you! Comfy beds, great pillows. Beautiful hotel - thebuilding and grounds.

Absolutely delighted with our stay. We have always been a fan of Hrishkesh Desai when he was at the Gilpin. Seeking him out we have not been disappointed on so many levels. The menu was a triumph. A sensory experience full of flavour. Each dish a culinary work of art. The bar has a fantastic selection of interesting cocktails and well balanced wine list, all expertly managed by Alex. The service is impeccable and everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive. We have already booked our next visit Thank you Team Farlam Hall

The perfect end to a very busy week. From the moment you drive in, it feels relaxed, and it was effortless to switch off and forget the outside world. Perfectly laid out, and tastefully decorated room with views over beautiful grounds added to the easy relaxation. Attentive and personable staff, not to mention knowledgeable, are a credit..... and this is all before we get to food. The meal was an experience on its own!! every course perfect in detail and taste. -immense!. We didn't travel far to enjoy this, but, both agreed it felt we had been away for days. We will be back :-)

A Five Star Cumbria Experience! From the moment I received a call asking about allergies for the meal 24 hours in advance, I anticipated a first rate experience and I wasn’t disappointed! The setting and grounds and delightful entrance to the building set the tone and this continued with the hearty welcome and the fantastic clock and its history being explained by one of the very friendly staff who proceeded to make an equally fantastic cocktail. The lovely vibe continued in the sitting room with a cozy open fire and the meal that followed hit the spot after a mad day! Service was impeccable and very much appreciated from the table service, assistance with a mobile phone being charged to the discretion re the muddy attire after a day at an archeological dig and visits to Bewcastle and Hadrian’s Wall. Couldn’t have been made more welcome! Thank you to the team at Farlam Hall!

Wonderful stay recently at Farlam Hall Hotel. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them, you will be well looked after. Very comfortable bed and the room was very stylish. Amazing food and so creative. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Our second stay at this wonderful place exceeded our expectations. From the warmest possible welcome to a delightful room and exquisite culinary experience - this is the ultimate in stylish luxury! I cannot recommend the dining and pairing wine experience enough. Phenomenal and worthy of fine praise. Well done to every staff member, who made our stay absolutely memorable!

It is about 2 years since we stayed at Farlam Hall Hotel and I am very pleased to say that the hotel and Restaurant have come on in leaps and bounds. From what it was 2 years ago to what it is now is totally transformed into a really outstanding place and well worth a visit. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble.
