Just returned from an 11 night stay at the TUI Magic life hotel. Family of 4 with 2 older teenagers. We had a lovely time and there were some really good times, but this hotel let itself down on lots of occasions, many of these have been raised by other posts on here. When you add all these little issues together, and then add one big problem we had, it really detracted from our holiday. Lets start off with the fact this is not a 4 star hotel or a TTTT plus hotel as described on the TUI website. I would say 3 star, at a push a 3 star plus. Both flight check-ins with TUI had zero queues, flights took off on time and both landed a little early. Coach transfers very good and it takes about an hour. Check-in at the hotel was quick and easy, especially as I had downloaded the TUI Majic Life app where you can update all the guest details beforehand so when you arrive you only have to show your passports and sign a piece of paper and your done. The receptionist explained everything to us about the layout of the hotel and the facilities. We had two rooms in block 18 with a sea view. The rooms were on the top floor and were huge but lacked decent lighting and storage facilities. Bearing in mind we were there when the clocks went back one hour, it meant that by 6.30pm it was dark out which made it worse. Most 4 star hotels have extra facilities in the rooms such as tea/coffee, this was something that didn’t exist. We found out on the last day if we had asked for a kettle they would provide it, but no mention of this anywhere beforehand and not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Beds are all single so a double is just 2 singles pushed together, and of you don’t lock the wheels they move, as our kids found out! Bathroom was fine with a nice shower, however I will return to the biggest issue we had at the end of this post. The towels in the room were tiny and dreadful quality – they felt like sandpaper and on many occasions were ripped, torn or frayed. When we raised this with reception, they assured us that all towels had been replaced only a few months ago. Ironically returning to our room after mentioning this, the bath towel in our room had a 2 inch hole in it. A small fridge in the room and a good size safe which took a full-size laptop which was great. The restaurant was often busy, and you would have to try and find a free table. The staff were always very helpful and halfway through our stay they created a queuing system for dinner which really helped, and we only waited a few minutes to be taken to our table. Food quality again was good, but without fail, every single morning and evening there were no cereal/soup bowls or glasses and you would be left waiting for items to be replenished. We didn’t feel that the hotel was particularly busy but the queues for certain foods was ridiculous with us often waiting for over 10 minutes with no communication from any of the staff.
