La Cave de l'Avenue de Champagne

We spent two nights in Epernay at La Cave de l"Avenue de Champagne in early May. Located in an old property at the beginning of the Avenue de Champagne, it was a perfect location to explore the town. A majority of the champagne houses line the Avenue, all within walking distance. The room was spacious and comfortable. They obviously had to be creative to carve out the suite, as the shower/sink were in one area, then the stool was across the room. Funky, but it worked fine. The morning breakfast was great with ample cheeses, meats, eggs if desired, and of course pastries and breads. All in all, a great place to stay in the more quiet of the champagne towns.

We had a three night stay in Épernay. The room was large and lovely. The WC was separate from the shower and washbasins. Great shower. Included a lot of breakfast choices that changed from day to day. The location cannot be beat close to everything. Our room overlooked the back patio and was very quiet. There is a lovely public garden next door for quiet relaxation. The staff is very kind.

I can't say how many times I have been here. Till March there was this amazing lady, Dorinne. She made every visit a party. Now there has been changing of staff. The food is still amazing, no doubt about that. We booked for as well July 21 and 22nd. The first evening, they said we didn't book at all. I wanted to show the proof on my mail, which was ignored. We were sat at the lounges, which is not easy for eating. So we did get another, not nice, table. The second evening, again we got seated half dry half in the rain. Service not good, not friendly. So unfortunately that was my last visit here.

Perfect location at the top (or bottom?) of Avenue de Champagne in Epernay. Close to pretty much everything you might want to do in town. It's not a huge chain hotel, and doesn't have a large number of rooms. We had two rooms, on separate floors, which suited us fine. The rooms were large enough for two persons with (small) suitcases. Clean and comfy. One room had a safe, the other didn't, not sure if this was a coincidence, but I'm sure it could be discussed with the staff if needed. Wasn't an issue for us. We had dinner in the evening. Mainly a tapas-based menu, which was perfectly fine. The portions were large and filling, and went well with a bottle of Champagne. Breakfast was good. Very bread-based, but with high quality bread. Not a huge selection as in larger resort hotels, but what they had was high quality, and definitely enough to fill anyone up, and there was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and efficient. We were called on the day of arrival. There is a gap in the afternoon when the reception isn't staffed. We weren't aware of this, but since they called and informed us we could plan accordingly. It's understandable, since it's a small establishment. The hotel has a collaboration with a Champagne house down the road - A. Bergere - definitely worth a visit as well. Definitely recommended for a few days' stay in Epernay.

De passage sur Épernay pour la journée, nous sommes venus dans cet établissement par hasard pour diner et n'avons pas été déçus car nous avons passé un moment très agréable. Entrée à partager : la bruschetta était délicieuse Plat du jour : les noix de St Jacques étaient délicieuses également. Assiette de fromage et tarte aux fraises très bons également. Personnel agréable et efficace. Cours intérieure agréable. Bon rapport qualité prix.

Hotel ou nous avons déjà séjourné. Accueil rapide et efficace. Surclassement apprécié. Petit déjeuner très correct pour un hotel Mercure, hormis le café. Personnel de salle très agréable, ce que nous avions constaté lors de notre précédent séjour. Parking gratuit, ce qui est de moins en moins souvent le cas dans les hotels du groupe Accor. Etablissement à retenir.
