ViaVia Entebbe

Our stay at ViaVia Entebbe was fantastic. We stayed one night in one of the double rooms and then three nights (after a trip to Murchison Falls organized through ViaVia) in one of the tents. Both styles of accommodation were spotless, comfortable, and so welcoming (drinking water waiting for you, fresh towels, info cards about laundry). The restaurant/bar attached has very good food and excellent drinks and is lively without being overwhelming. The location and style of ViaVia is worth the stay but the staff are what really set the place apart. Linda the Manager was so warm and so kind -- she really helped us on first night when we hit a travel snafu and got so thoroughly soaked in one of the sudden and serious afternoon rains. She really helped us get our drenched items dry enough to pack for our next day Saffari to Murchison Falls and was not once anything but sympathetic and supportive. Our driver for the Saffari, Fred, was so great -- chill but full of information and eager to help us see all of the most hidden animals. And when we returned there was always staff close by lending a small hand for things that are just helpful. We've been lucky to travel and stay in a variety of hotels and hostels and ViaVia Entebbe and this ranks among the top places we've stayed. It is an excellent spot to base yourself for excursions in and around Entebbe.

Lovely oasis within walking distance of everything in Entebbe. Helpful staff. Nice gifts shop with local crafts. Great bar. Pool being updated and will make the place even better. Good value and we would stay again.

This place is ok. It’s got a weird vibe. Staff were quite rude and unsmiling the whole time we were there - we stayed 3 nights in total. This was the first place we stayed at in Uganda and from the onset the unwelcoming and quite abrupt in her manner with us. Staff at the restaurant and bar were also quite rude. This is very different from the rest of Uganda where people were far more welcoming. We had the garden view rooms which were ok. Rooms were clean but full of mosquitoes and we had to ask for our room to be sprayed down with mosquito spray several times. They didn’t have the mosquito plug ins like other hotels. The rooms were also quite stuffy, they gave us a fan which was quite old and my husband got a mild electric shock when it was plugged in the socket. Not ideal. We would suggest avoiding the place if you can help it. The positive of this place is that the food is pretty good and the grounds are nice enough but what makes a place is the hospitality and the warmth of the staff and we just didn’t like it here.

We started our Uganda trip at ViaVia and liked it so much that we decided to spend the unplanned last 2 nights, after our trip, there as well. The food was good and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were also extremely friendly. I can only recommend it.

Lovely place to stay. It is indeed in a quiet and calm area. The staff is exceptional starting from when you need help with booking. I went there on my way out of Uganda because of a very bad sprain and they did everything they could to help me be comfortable even lending me crutches because I had none. The food is great and the restaurant and bar is nicely located with a great view.

Again we had a wonderful stay at Via Via Guesthouse. It feels like coming home. The rooms are very nice, though room nr. 17 is a bit far away from the rest. The staff is very friendly and everything is clean.

Lovely place!! Been here several times, great en beautiful surrounding. Nice, clean, different kind of rooms. Good kitchen and most important, nice staff. Pretty place to stay as start off or ending your trip in Uganda.

Stayed 3 nights at ViaVia before and after a long trip around ViaVia. (have also been here on a previous visit). Definitely the best place to stay in Entebbe. An oasis of green calm, with monkeys and lots of birds constantly in the large gardens (which has a small lake overlooked by the restaurant area). The rooms are clean, the showers are hot, the food is very good, and all the staff are amazing. Thanks for another great stay.

Arrived with my group of 27 to find our agent had booked our stay for the wrong date! Big problem? No, not for Linda, the manager. There was no suggestion we'd be left stranded; she told me not to worry and organised a flurry of staff activity and made sure we could all be accommodated. Beds were moved, tents were erected. They pulled out all the stops. It was very impressive. Meanwhile, Jeanine and the bar/restaurant staff ensured our party was well looked after and dinner for 27 was served - all the while the place was busy with other guests and they were hosting a birthday celebration for another large group. It was a professional and slick operation. I can't speak highly enough of the customer service; not simply high by Ugandan standards but by any standard. My group loved this place; great accommodation, great food, great setting. It was the perfect end to our Uganda visit. Having lived in Entebbe 30 years go, I could never have imagined such a place existing in Entebbe back then. For me, Via Via is another of Uganda's "hidden gems". We'll be back with another group. Hopefully we'll be expected this time :-)
