Centauria Lake Resort

We stayed one night (HB) after we attended a family wedding. The reception hall is beautiful, the location of the hotel is amazing and the outdoors are very well maintained. Pool is great too. Even the food at the wedding was quiet nice. Dinner buffet was very good. Now for the cons: we stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa (Nelum) and it was just so terrible. Bathroom drains did not work. AC malfunctioned. It’s either switch it off or keep it at the same temp. Had to call engineering at night. The rooms were clearly not cleaned well before we arrived. The smell coming from the shower area was pungent. Breakfast buffet was not that good. Potatoes were raw and chicken curry was still cold and felt like it was straight from the freezer. None of the staff had the courtesy to greet any of us with a simple smile or just pleasantries. Only the girl at the front desk and one older gentleman at the restaurant was friendly. Rest of the staff looked like zombies walking around forced to work there. I asked where the restaurant is and one person stretched his arm and literally said “there”! 🤦🏽‍♀️ it’s a mess to be honest. Even the staff that were at the homecoming function we attended were so dead and acted like they couldn’t wait to get out of there. Not a single pleasant person to be found. It’s a shame because the property is beautiful, location is next level. All you need is a good set of mangers to get things going and get your staff trained to work in hospitality. Do the change if you can because it’s a waste of a good location.

YES, YES AND YES! If i had the chance i would stay her the rest of my trip. The hotel is beautiful with big nice rooms, great beds and bathroom. The staff is super friendly and everyone wants to help you. The hotel has a gym where you can do whatever you want. There is great Wi-Fi in the whole hotel. The pool is cleaned in the morning and even during the day with clean pool towels. Breakfast is great with a lot of choices. The dinner buffet is a little less with choices and most of it was cold, but it was oke. This hotel has everything you want when you travelled a lot and you want a day 'holiday' instead of travel. Recommended!

Arrived as part of a tour group with Mercury holidays. We had a lovely room but no patio or balcony, we only stopped one night so didn’t matter too much. The pool area looked nice but didn’t have time to use it. There is a large bar area and the buffet dinner and breakfast was all good.

We stayed in this hotel with a tour group. The room of at least 4 couples was entered and (large amounts of) money was stolen. Money was taken from the wallet so that you did not notice at first glance, for example, 2 of 5 LKR 5,000 notes were stolen. In the same manner euro notes were taken. It turns out that the balcony doors cannot be locked. The precision with which this large-scale robbery took place makes it appear as if it was organized and not by a single individual. Unfortunately, the group only found out after we had left the hotel. We have received no response from the hotel, let alone an apology for the large-scale theft.

I stayed two nights here on H/B Basis and it was a pleasant stay. I was given a Deluxe Room which was very spacious and had all the amenities including a huge sofa minibar, TV and a Bathtub. I had four meals and all of that was scrumptious and huge potions. Staff was very attentive. Best thing about this hotel is the picturesque scenery. Hotel is located facing Chandrika Lake in Embilipitya. One could see the whole lake and the brids island when you are in a Lake View Room. I will definitely return.
