The Royal Hotel Elgin

Terrible place. They advertise rooms that they don’t have instead using an annex which is a fire hazard and not up to standard. Management and owners don’t bother and are never available to discuss. Avoid this place. Other hotels in Elgin that are up to the standards.

We booked for 3 nights in the Royal Hotel Elgin and were put in the annex room 2 . The hall and stair carpet were threadbare in places. Then we found Dirty pillows which we got changed. very uncomfortable bed, filthy shower curtain, dirty carpet, no cold water only one bedside cabinet, broken lampshade leaning on bulb(Fire hazard ) couldn’t switch of lights without getting out of bed. We complained and got put to another room in the annex room 8 The bed was clean and comfortable but the shower door handle was broken, the lid of the cistern was broken, no plug for the sink, toilet roll holder was broken, no bbc or itv channels on tv. We informed the manageress and were told it would be fixed that day. Unfortunately not . My partner tried to speak to the manageress but she wouldn’t communicate. We feel that it spoiled our holiday and certainly will never go back. What you see on their website is FALSE

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel is undergoing repairs and updates but does not impact in the excellent service we recieved .thank you to all the staff

Bed was huge and bedding was crisp and clean. Room and bathroom were both spotless and had no complaints. Breakfast was great lots of fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, cereals, fresh fruits juices, full English breakfast, toast and jams were available. Could not have asked for more. Lady who served us was so helpful and nothing was to much trouble.

Very poor , £100 pound for the room don’t think it is worth £40, room is dated and beds are poor quality. Came back at 9.30 on a Saturday night and everything is closed , cant even get a drink. Shame building is lovely. And the member of staff that we have met is lovely
