This is a unique and beautifully restored property supported by friendly, energetic staff. Room choices are diverse. Ours was in newer section which was quiet with outdoor seating and close to one of ywo swimming pools. It is a good starting point for our our cycling activities during a three night stay. Region offers much.

Beware anyone planning to stay at this hotel should note that its main focus is that of leading wedding venue and this takes priority and that on wedding days you will be a second class guest but you will still charged full price. On the first night the entire place and its facilities were geared towards the wedding guests. We had booked half board but had to eat dinner in the pool restaurant as the main restaurant and bar plus surrounding areas had been rented exclusively to the wedding party which was extremely noisy all evening. The pool restaurant was full of flies and had very little atmosphere. The food was very average for the price. We complained about the flies but the head waiter was dismissive and said there was nothing he could do. Our room was nice but we had upgraded to a room with a balcony which was filthy and the only view was large bushes which stopped the daylight and meant there was no value in paying for it. When we complained to the manager at check out he took the price off the drinks from the second night which wasn’t nearly enough to compensate for our experience. It’s very clear this hotel focussed solely on wedding events. The hotel should not be selling half board packages on wedding days and forewarn guest before booking. Having spent €1000 for two nights we feel completely cheated and would not recommend this hotel, which is sad as we came 10 years ago and loved it.
