My husband and I travelled from the uk to Athens, collected a hire car and drove/ferried to the island. The trip from Athens to the apartment was about 3 1/2 hours and not a bad drive at all. The Miradouro is set in the mountains overlooking a little bay, stunning views and quite remote. This is what appealed on booking as we wanted a relaxing off grid experience for the week. We were not disappointed on this front. On arriving (after being awake for 24 hours and travelling for half of that time) we were shattered and looking forward to a shower and bed. Unfortunately no one was about and I had not received any instructions on accessing the key safe, that was on every apartment door. We could not get through to the manager either, via the telephone number or email. I contacted love holidays who I booked with, they also had trouble contacting the manager. My husband managed to open an apartment so we were able to rest for the night. By morning the manager had reached out and explained that she had not received my details so was unable to contact me prior to our arrival?! Anna (manager) gave us the correct apartment and we were in. My advice would be to contact them direct on booking so you have an email address and don’t need to “break in” or sleep in the car! The apartment was lovely and clean, basic and a bit tired. The bed was very comfortable however the sheet did not fit the mattress and was an annoyance! The little kitchenette was adequate and a sponge and washing up liquid was supplied. The actual grounds were very clean however the pool was out of use and filthy. Anna explained they had lots of rain and this couldn’t be used. The decking surrounding the pool, the sun beds and steps are all needing improvements as were tired, and broken. A very very steep hill leading down to a pebble beach to the right and to the left was a small port and access to a little village with a few restaurants and a mini mart. The nearest town was Edipsos which is a 5 minute drive, the thermal pools are a must! They blew my mind. A large town but not much happening, a few restaurants, shops and supermarkets. We spoke to a local chef who explained that a great fire had destroyed the mountain areas, in 2022, and several roads are closed still and tourism is no longer thriving in the area which is a shame. We traveled through the mountains to the main town, about 3 hours due to diversions. You could clearly see the devastation for miles and miles. When we booked we wanted a cheap relaxing break, with stunning views, off grid and peaceful. We were not disappointed with that! We went to sleep listening to the waves gently rolling on the shore, we woke to bird song and uninterrupted views of the islands. It was very peaceful. The WiFi was excellent too, as nothing was close by we made dinner a few times and opened some wine and watched a film! The positives outweighed the negatives for sure! So in summary- Quiet location, you do need transport to access anywhe
