Hotel Obermayr

I adore Salzburg and the Salzkammergut Lakes region of Austria and this is my go to hotel whenever I'm in the area. Very friendly staff, a good breakfast buffet in the mornings and some excellent evening meals in the restaurant. It's approx 25 minutes to Salzburg by car, the lakes of Fuschlsee, Wolfgangsee, Mondsee and Hintersee are all less than half an hour away and don't miss Plötz Wasserfall which is a mile and a half from the hotel. Looking forward to my next visit!

This is the only negative review I am posting from our recent trip thru Austria Italy and Greece, of 8 hotels and inns. We had a 3 night stay at the Obermayer Inn, a 35 minute drive to Salzburg. The first night dinner was terrible, over salted, a mess of a presentation, meat was tough, just an overall extremely disappointing meal. The rooms were small, not a lot of space to move around, tripping over our luggage, no bar fridge, bathrooms small. Beds and bedding was very nice. Breakfasts were good, staff worked diligently to stock the buffet presentation, line up at the coffee machine, had to wait, bit of a nuisance. Third and last night we decided to give the hotel restaurant another try, unfortunately it was closed for a private event, only drinks. This was another disappoin**ent, why couldn’t they have told us, why couldn’t they have posted notices that it would be closed? We wound up back in Salzburg, driving around looking for a suitable place to eat that wasn’t pizza or fast food. Returning to the Obermayer after a fine meal at another hotel we discovered the parking lot full and overflowing, we had to park on the shoulder of the highway 100 metres away. This private event ended after 10:00 pm and we were able to move the car into a legal parking spot on hotel property. Private event, drinks only, designated drivers, maybe, but I viewed several men leaving on their own. I believe this to be a favourite gathering place for locals, there is even a table in the dining area set aside for locals only, friendly, they smile and say hello. My brother in law who has stayed there twice before and had very nice things to say about the Obermayer, how quaint it is, Bavarian inn, now swears he will not stay there ever again. The good; the bed and bedding was very nice, the breakfast staff worked diligently, and parking was free, if you could find a parking spot.

Loved the authentic decor complete with antique artifacts and hunting lodge furnishings. Located at a convenient and natural setting with easy access to Salzburg and Berchtesgaden.

Good place for a quick night's stay passing through..great staff, friendly and helpful. Dinner was very good. Nice breakfast included.

Excellent stay, room should have portable fan or AC considering summer days. Rest everything was perfect.

A quite mountainous place with no service areas

Great place around 20 minutes drive from Salzburg centre , was very impressed with the accommodation, fantastic setting ,friendly welcoming staff, room was great, lovely breakfast, had a meal there one evening as opposed to eating out and it was delicious, I’d definitely stay again if going back to Salzburg and definitely recommend to friends as a good place to stay if visiting Salzburg.

That was one of the best choice which I have ever did as a guest. Highly recommended place!

Beautiful a**osphere in countryside, a very authentic stay reflecting the Alpine lifestyle. Surrounded by a beautiful nature. Very nice breakfast, very helpful and nice staff. Family a**osphere. Cleaning is very good. On sundays and on mondays the restaurant is closed so you have to find somewhere to eat.
