The pictures of the hotel and rooms are very deceiving. Small, easy fixes would make a huge difference. Such as: Signs/directions for bedrooms being more clear and official rather than just cut out bits of paper sellotaped to the wall. Customer service training for staff. Soft close fixings on doors, especially the main entrance! A small table in the room for making hot drinks. Provide somewhere to put clothes, I’m not sure how people manage when staying more than one night. My room, advertised as a “deluxe double” was extremely basic. I’m not sure what could constitute the use of the word deluxe. The bathroom was very clean/maybe recently refurbished. The air con/heating system was broken and covered with tape, which looked awful, but I could open a small window and had the use of a stand up fan. The tray for the tea making supplies was broken, such a simple thing to replace and would make a big difference. It just demonstrates lack of care and attention to detail. It was also just perched on one of the bedside shelves with no real room for making hot drinks safely. The kettle was covered in a thick layer of dust (that put me off using it). Only full fat UHT milk provided, I would have preferred semi skimmed but this is being really fussy!!! There was a cigarette burn in my duvet cover. The bed was comfortable however and I slept well. Customer service on arrival was seriously lacking. I used the online check in. On arrival, I was just handed a key and told my room number. I was not given any other information such as parking, wifi (which didn’t work), how to get to my room or the fact that breakfast was not being served. I found all this out from friends who were also staying at the hotel and had asked. The wifi didn’t work in my room, not sure if this has anything to do with it being room 101?! CHECK PARKING INFORMATION! - When I asked about parking I was told that the £2.20 (very reasonable) parking permit would be valid until from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning. We then got a parking fine on Sunday morning. When we went back to the hotel to enquire/seek assistance in the matter we were told they could not help and we would need to speak to the manager but the staff member wouldn’t tell us the manager’s name. This staff member (green hair) needs further customer service training; it is perfectly acceptable to request the manager’s name to direct correspondence to. No further help or suggestions were offered. This was very frustrating and we are now left to sort the issue out - even after contacting the manager on the Monday, we are still none the wiser and have just been told to appeal the ticket which is just added stress that no one needs! The cost of the stay for one night was reasonable for the convenience of the location. Had the location not been so handy, I would be asking for some compensation for the inconvenience caused and misrepresentation on their website. We had lovely food and drinks at the View hotel which i
