We arrived for check-in at 8:30pm and were the only people in reception. The person on reception pointedly ignored us and continued looking at his computer screen for a couple of minutes before deigning to help us. There was zero friendly greeting and we were made to feel like an inconvenience. As we always go out of our way to be friendly and polite to people in service industries, this was a lousy experience. Our room was tired, dated and drab and we were glad to check out as soon as possible the next morning. I can't comment on other facilities at the hotel. Since check-in was so unpleasant we made a point of going elsewhere for breakfast the next morning. We had to return to Dunedin for another night a week later. If this hotel had been okay then we would have re-booked for sure. Thankfully, we stayed elsewhere for a similar price and received much better service in a hotel that was far nicer. I don't normally leave poor reviews, but check-in was so notably unpleasant that I had to say something.
