Southern Palms Beach Club

Just returned from southern palms and wow what a fantastic hotel. I requested a room with a great view for a friend who hasn't been abroad for many years and celebrating a big birthday they provide us with a beach front room just steps from the beach couldn't have been any better, thank you so much for that. Staff all friendly from cleaners to security and all the others in between. Water is provided all day by the pool ,definitely needed . The beds and pillows are so comfortable and air con is fantastic. Had a welcome gift on arrival in our room which was a lovely touch along with tea coffee and juice in fridge wasn't expecting that but really appreciated it. Restaurant has a good selection of food from breakfast to evening meals and I thought it was very reasonably priced.plenty of sun loungers around and about and on the beach. If you have a lounger on the beach they give you a flag to wave if you want anything they bring it to you, brilliant. really Can't fault this hotel I will definitely be back. It's sat on dover beach which is my favourite.

After seeing some negative reviews we did wonder have we booked the right hotel for our first visit to Barbados, well the hotel was fabulous. I can understand that some may find the rooms a little dated, but personally if they modernised, it would take away some of the charm and quaintness of the rooms. We had an ocean view room, and the view along the beach and out over the Caribbean Sea was fantastic. The staff at the hotel were outstanding, attentive, always pleasant, and helpful. We had tried to book some trips whilst there through the tour company but with no success, reception managed to get the same trips for a better price and on the days we wanted without any fuss, we then trusted them to arrange our car hire and once again they came up trumps. The hotel offers sun beds and chairs on the beach, with staff happy to put them wher you want and fetch a parasol. When we go back in the future we will definitely be staying at the Southern Palms Beach Club

We have been visiting Barbados for 30 years and Southern Palms is the worst hotel I have stayed in. Definitely would not return. We stayed for Xmas and New Year and the customer service is terrible, I had pointed out a few issues we had during our stay at checkout and instead of apologising, they argued on every point I made and was told that I was basically a liar. I was beyond fuming! If that hadn’t happened, I maybe would have stayed again on a room only basis, as the rooms were fine and cleaned every day, and the beach was nice, with plenty of sun loungers, although no umbrellas, so you had to find a palm tree for shade. The bar service was non existent, they just ignored you and the restaurant was no better, we tried having lunch, but you would have to wait forever to get served, so we had lunch next door every day. The breakfast was okay, but Happy Days across the road did a better breakfast. We did stay for dinner only once on Xmas Day, which we had booked 10 months in advance. We were not seated in the restaurant but on a terrible table the other side of the bar. The buffet was awful, $120 US dollars per person and there was hardly any food left when we attended the buffet. So would not recommend eating or drinking here.

This was our first ever trip to Barbados and we chose Southern Palms based on it's location and great reviews. We were not disappointed! We booked an ocean view room and boy did we get an ocean view!! (The pictures attached to this review were taken from our balcony.) The room was huge, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and great pillows! Not that you want to spend any time in your room watching tv when you're in paradise but ours had a smart tv that had Netflix, Prime etc. so if you wanted to log into it, you could. Given the idyllic nature of it's location, you could be forgiven for thinking it'd be a struggle to get a sunbed either on the beach or around one of the pools but it wasn't. Yes, you still get those people that will go and put their towels out first thing and stake their claim on sunbeds they have no intention of using until several hours later BUT, there are plenty of sunbeds and lots of space so we never had an issue getting beds/finding a good spot regardless of the time of day we chose. I want to take the opportunity to give a shout out to Makayla who looked after us all week with drinks service. We literally did not have to leave our sunbeds whether we were on the beach or poolside, Makayla was making sure we could totally relax! We loved the idea of having a flag for use on the beach when you wanted to order something, that was really cool! The steel band on Sunday lunchtime was very good! We really enjoyed listening to them from the beach. We were on a room only basis so we only actually had 2 meals in the hotel (one breakfast and one lunch.) Both were very good and it was easy to charge things to the room ad-hoc given we opted not to book any meal packages. The location of the hotel in the gap was ideal for us. Nice and easy to wander out in the evenings with many bars and restaurants on the doorstep to choose from. All the staff we interacted with at the hotel were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. If you're looking for a stunning place to relax and re-charge your batteries, you couldn't go wrong with Southern Palms! We hope to go back as soon as we can!

We are returning visitors to this lovely beachfront Hotel in The GAP. We requested the pool and ocean view room that we had last year and we were granted our request! The room is lovely - has a very large patio balcony area with a fridge and kettle. The room is air conditioned and cleaned well every day. It has had a new shower since Jan 2024 which was needed. The bar and restaurant is right on the beach - service is very 'laid back' to the point of being poor at times but we cant work out if we think its charming or in need of proper intervention now! We have waited on occasion for over 30 minutes to just get a drink! Lots of staff wandering around with pink and white chitties and not much action. Having said that , we would return as the beach is amazing and you just pull a couple of sunbeds under your own palm tree for the day and that to us is everything. Great location for bars and restaurants, cafes and breakfast places. The managers cocktail party every week is a great idea and we love that the staff remembered us from last year! We will be back. The rooms are comfortable and to a good standard. This resort is a huge complex with two pools, beach frontage, another grassed relaxation area together with mini golf, table tennis, lounge area and huge restaurant/dining area. They provide food and drink service up and down the beach and relaxation areas. All areas are exceptionally clean, including the rooms and all very well maintained. This is all down to the management and the excellent staff from housekeeping to waitresses, bar staff, porters, security, etc, etc. Nothing is a problem to them all and through my observations, they alk put in 110% effort. Together with their down to earth friendliness and the stunning location of this resort, I could not recommend more highly.
