Catalonia La Romana

I can see why this hotel is 5 stars, its the little details, all the staff will say hello to you, yes there are a few that dont speak good English but they will always try and help, they even put their "catalonia" logo in their smoking sand every morning. The beach is about a 7 minute walk from reception area and is beautiful but people are not wrong when they say you have to get up at 6am to reserve a decent spot. We had heard of other places in the dominican having serious seaweed issues and there were zero here. We went to see the fish in the corals which was wonderful. Food at the Peruvian restaurant was incredible. Only downside is if you dont book somewhere to eat for the night you will end up just getting room service with a very limited menu. We did find a lot of things out later on in the holiday as no one explained anything except where the beach was, we weren't sure on what services we could use or which part of the beach to use etc. We got some form of bug which had us being sick for 3 days and had no idea they had medical supplies at the shop which would've really helped. The room was incredible, slight issue with water pressure but nothing big and everything was clean. We wanted to take Esther the cleaning lady home with us, she was just a vibe. So welcoming and lovely and even came to say goodbye when we left. Another staff shout out is for the woman who works on the "non adults" side at the beach bar, she was always happy to see us and exclaimed "palm beach!" (My drink of choice) every time we went up and was full of smiles. The waitress at the twist bar in reception was also dancing around during the entertainment and added a nice layer of entertainment at the same time. Overall we had an excellent time and we will definitely be back. The friendly staff counteract the rude guests and the scenery is just incredible.

A fantastic adult’s only resort. Amazing staff, fabulous swim up room. Beautiful beach and the quality of the food and service in all the restaurants totally exceeded our expectations. Special shout outs to: Catherine, (Reception), Brianda, (Siwichi Restaurant), Reyna, (our amazing housekeeper), who went way over and beyond with her creative towel sculptures, attention to detail and ‘nothing was too much trouble’ attitude…. a truly delightful person and a credit to this hotel. Christopher and Marialis at the adult swim up bar, Darling in the Twist bar and definitely the Team in the Tapas Beach bar in the main resort, (who nicknamed us Mamna and Pappa)…. in fact, we wish we could name every member of staff we met as they were all so friendly, charming and helpful. We absolutely loved our two weeks at this hotel, everything about the resort was exactly as described when we were choosing where to stay in the Dominican Republic. It’s been almost 20 years since the last time I was here, after staying at the Catalonia Royal La Romana resort…. it most definitely will not be another 20 years until we next visit this beautiful Caribbean country. Angel sequetel Beba Fernando is such a great and personable guy! I took some dancing lessons, like salsa and merange, and water aerobics. He was very welcoming and nice to my girlfriends and me on our girls trip! He made us feel very included and welcomed!

Go here. As a couple who travelled to DR in the past and the experience was subpar we have decided to give it one last chance. And it paid off..this hotel exceeded our expectations BY FAR. Everything was awsome!! Staff super friendly, funny, chatty and to our service at all times with every single question we had! Not going to mention hotel property grounds etc because, we are talkin dominican here.. Food super good, large variety Rooms and accomodation modern spatious and always clean. Tips: try sushi at the beach bar All in all there are no words or pics to do this hotel justice so overall...GO HERE you won't regret

A beautiful location and first impressions were impressive. We had a deluxe room with a balcony - really spacious and immaculate. Having arrived in the early hours, we went to bed accompanied by the relentless sound of the air conditioning. On waking, we both had nasty dry coughs, which continued throughout our stay. We could hear neighbors hacking away, too! Yes, and towel on every lounger, but you fall into the rhythm of that, and it works. We took an early morning walk and swim, so we had great seats. The staff were very inconsistent. Two brilliant waiting staff in BLoved, but generally, we got overlooked even when we flashed some cash. The food was a total disappointment, drinks too. Prepare to be underwhelmed. Pastries at the reception and breakfast were the best things.

Me and my girlfriend spent 10 days here from England. The hotel was amazing. It had everything we could want, a beach on the doorstep, multiple pools, bars and restaurants. Angel, Juan carlos, and Julio, the bell boys were extremely helpful and welcoming in their service! Ariel the bar man, this chap deserves a mention for his excellent service! Warm and friendly. As does Osvaldo! Serving drinks with a smile everytime! Also, I'd to shout out the amazing entertainment people. Sorry I do not know the names, there is a big (musclar) man who is on the microphone, a man with the ponytail, another man i think called Angel, and a lovely girl. These 4 people provided amazing entertainment on the evenings. They are always smiling. Always helping. They are teaching people their dance moves from the early hours all the way up to night. And whenever you see either one of them in the hotel, there's a good chance they'll be dancing. They are the life and soul of the hotel! Thanks guys. (Sorry about the names :( )
