I have just returned from this hotel having stayed 3rd - 17th May. I won’t lie, I was a little worried about this trip after reading some bad reviews recently, however I can assure people you will have a great time here. The hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of wildlife wondering around - the geese were my personal favourites. The beach is unreal & by far the best of the area. I know people complain about dated rooms, but ours was perfectly fine. It was big, bright, everything worked (except for the Wi-Fi which was the only major negative) and had a lovely view from the balcony. Food, I will agree with others that it is hit or miss but you will always find something & never go hungry. Just a tip, the bar staff at La Papaya during the day are the best so I’d definitely recommend getting drinks there. For me personally though the biggest highlight of this hotel was the animacion team, who work tirelessly to ensure you have a good vacation. They put on a range of activities to cater for everyone throughout the day including yoga, body blade, crazy games, dance lessons, aqua gym (even in the rain!), Zumba, bingo etc. They are also the same people who are part of the evening shows & then dance with guests afterwards in the Placita for different themed nights. They work so hard! They are engaging, funny, extremely friendly & will always greet you with a big smile. I suffer really badly with anxiety, but they made me feel at ease enough to join in with the activities, which is a huge deal and says a lot about how good they are at their jobs. Between them they speak many different languages too, so if you don’t speak spanish you can still participate and understand what is going on. I know people go on holiday to relax, but if I can give anyone any advice at all, it would be to join in with at least one activity as I can guarantee you’ll have so much fun with the animacion team you’ll want to participate more. They really are an asset to the hotel & I hope that management knows/acknowledges this. Viva Palace wouldn’t be the same experience that it is without the annimacion team it currently has and I hope that they get the recognition they deserve. So I just want to take a second to shout out to Sara, Samir, Maria, Ana, Andy, Pablo, Julienne and also give a big shout out to Lilu too. Thank you to you all for making this holiday so much fun!! P.s for anyone staying at this hotel, you will get the theme song “La Fiesta Viva” stuck in your head for days afterwards!
