Newhall Mains

Came for a special birthday dinner, bed and breakfast. A beautiful, peaceful spot, the hotel and its grounds immaculate, the room very comfortable and clean with a super-cosy bed, though I would have liked the option of a firm pillow. I also expected more upmarket toiletries in a 5 star hotel and maybe a choice of herbal teas, but these are suggestions rather than complaints. The public areas are exceptionally stylish, with some very good paintings by Scottish artists on the walls. Lovely cocktail bar and restaurant, with huge windows looking out over the surrounding countryside. The continental buffet breakfast was delicious with a great choice. Dinner wasn’t exceptional considering the prices, but enjoyable enough. However, the staff were outstanding, friendly, attentive and welcoming. We live locally so will certainly come back, and book the sauna next time!

Very nice place and location, amazingly decorated. Pleased with the fire in the room after a long day walking in the highlands. Awesome breakfast, especially if you like berries and salmon !! However, dinner at restaurant is from a different level. The pasta were overcooked and the sauce had no special taste, I was really disapointed and mostly ate the mussels. Veal Milanese côtelette was oily and too salty. The mushrooms saved the dish. A bit sad for a place claiming at arrival to be recently Michelin recognised …. In room service requires improvement : no refill of water on 2nd day, same for herbal tea..

From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, all of the staff strive to, and make, your stay fabulous. The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed and tastefully furnished. The restaurant is exceptional. Local food prepared exquisitely. The wine list is extensive and well priced. The whiskey and gin bar is a voyage of discovery. Will come again

If I could give this hotel 10 stars, I would! My only regret is that we only had one night, and I'm already plotting how to go back. The property is stunning, our cottage was lovely, and the food delicious. It is pricey, but absolutely worth every penny. Highly, highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at Newhall Mains for our one-year anniversary, and it was perfect. We stayed in one of the private houses, which was beautifully designed and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. Having our own fireplace made the evening extra cozy. We borrowed the hotel’s e-bikes and cycled along the scenic coast to Cromarty— one of the many highlights of the trip. The service, food, and overall experience were exceptional and the staff were all so friendly. We couldn’t recommend it more and can’t wait to return. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

We were lucky to be touring around Scotland in a light aircraft but didn’t make advance bookings. How wonderful to be able to get a last minute booking here and to be able to land on their very well maintained private grass runway. We made use of the complimentary electric bikes to explore the local area and had great accommodation, lovely food and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely go back again. Thank you.
