Would definitely recommend this hotel! It’s a peaceful oasis within Medan’s busyness and the perfect place to relax after hours of traveling. The staff was the friendliest we’ve had during our whole trip, always willing to help. The room was very beautiful and comfortable, as were the dining areas and the large pool. From within the pool, you have a beautiful view overlooking the jungle. Also, we loved the breakfast buffet with a range of options, with both sweet and savory options. We also had dinner there both nights, because of how delicious and affordable it was. Wish we could’ve stayed a bit longer!

The hotel was quite nice, but the restaurant not so good. I ordered a black pepper beef to my room, and it was the toughest meat I have eaten in years. So tough I just gave up chewing and put it back on the plate. Th breakfast we paid for was a bit boring.

Our stay was exceptional from the beginning with the driver meeting us at the airport and taking us to get SIM cards on the way - those little things that help in a new place. The hotel is an oasis in Medan, surrounded by greenery and grounds well maintained by the staff. The pool overlooks the river and the staff will bring any drinks or snacks down there for you. Rooms are comfortable and spread out across the property. The restaurant is first class and affordable. Overall it was a luxurious and relaxing trip and the family who runs it are super knowledgeable on Medan as well as the rest of Sumatra. Will be back next time I’m in Medan - so much more of Sumatra to still explore.

We utilised this hotel either side of our travels into the rainforest & jungles of Sumatra. A great prepping area with a lovely pool to relax, a brilliant on site restaurant and although on a busy road, the driveway and grounds are peaceful and allowed for a great night's sleep. Room was simple but provided everything we needed. Also a cracking spot to take a look around Medan itself, only a short Bukak ride away!

A wonderful oasis in Medan! Our family of four had a great four night stay in this beautiful hotel. The food was top notch, with amazing Indonesian and western options. The wait staff were highly attentive and professional with warm smiles abounding. We stayed in the family room with plenty of room for us all. The grounds were immaculate, and we really enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the Deli river valley. Most memorable will be our time spent with the Buiskool family, the owners and operators, who made us feel so welcome and who so warmly shared their stories and experiences with us.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful gardens, with all sorts of plants. The restaurant is in a lovely traditional building and serves excellent food. The rooms are spotless, with silent a/c, kettle, veranda, nice furnishings. The staff are unobtrusive, efficient and friendly. There’s a really good pool with a lovely view down to the river. I can’t say enough good things about the place. We were only here for 2 nights at the start of our holiday and didn’t feel the need to set foot outside until it was sadly time to move on.

If you want to have a ‘whow’ experience and you need to go to Medan: this is it! Small scale hotel with maximum service to exceed your expectations. Rooms are perfect clean and neat. Restaurant staff treats you like king. And they can improvise: they can arrange a private tour to the volcano’s, historical buildings sightseeing, jungle track walking experience when you arrive. This hotel has all the connections!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Deli River. The rooms are massive, beautiful and kept clean throughout our stay. The property is amazing with lots of greenery. The main house/building has 2 big restaurant spaces (1 for breakfast and 1 for lunch/dinner) where their delicious food is served. Definitely try out the bitterballen (we had to being Dutch)! There's also a great pool to swim in and relax by. It is located just a little bit outside Medan so not ideal if you're there to really visit Medan (unless you're willing to get a driver), but we enjoyed it so much at the property that we didn't leave. It is however relatively close (1hr drive) to the airport so perfect if you want to relax a little before you fly. Would highly recommend!
