Sunbright Inn

A meticulously renovated Victorian home with extraordinary attention to detail in public spaces, grounds, and the room. Super linens and a very thoughtful host (who we never met) but was very communicative via text. Yummy fresh muffins awaited us with every convenience one could imagine - ready on site. Large spacious & handsome bathroom with giant shower & AMAZING water pressure. Nice secure parking and a good location within easy walking distance to the historic district. I take pleasure in recommending this inn. HINT - if you find the bed too mushy, you are able to remove the topper for a more firm nights sleep.

This is a beautiful inn. Our room was comfortable and clean. The hosts were very accommodating and communication was excellent. Lovely two-night stay! Enjoyed the little details like the muffins, bottles of water and coffee maker. We loved the huge shower!

The Inn was stunning! We felt like we took a step back in time as we entered the foyer. The public areas and our room were immaculate and furnished in beautiful period pieces. Our bathroom was updated, large, with an amazing shower. The quality of the linens exceeded our expectation and the bed was very comfortable. The Innkeeper communicated well with us prior to our visit and checked for any special requests. I asked for a small fan and voila-a very cute vintage fan awaited me and was perfect. We stayed in the Magnolia room on the first floor. Coffee was available and a muffin awaited to start our morning. My only suggestions, communicated to the Innkeeper after we left, was a need for a hand towel holder, extra soap for the shower, and an additional luggage rack as there is no closet in this room. We will return and hope to explore the town more. Note: if you arrive on a Sunday, some of the recommended restaurants are not open.

There are renovations and there are historic renovations. The Sunbright Inn in Defuniak Springs recently went through a significant renovation of one of the original Chataqua homes in Walton County that was constructed in the 1880's. What you see today is thorough, extensive, and an outstanding job of a historic renovation. Make it a point to visit old Florida with a stop in Defuniak Springs and learn about the Chataqua movement from the late 1800's that began in New York. Walk around their nationally designated historic district that contains close to 200 buildings as part of the district. And by all means, book a stay at the historic Sunbright Inn. My wife and I have traveled fairly extensively, and you won't find any better accommodations than at the Sunbright Inn.

Sunbright Inn is a special experience. The beautiful rooms are decorated with period antiques. The attention to detail is impressive. Every room is unique and every need is met to make your visit comfortable. For special occasions upgrades can be added. This is a jewel in west Florida. The historic downtown of Defuniak Springs is worth a look. We love it there!

This place is outstanding! The hosts are beyond attentive and kind, the building is SO beautiful, the beds are remarkably comfortable, rooms are equipped with everything you might need for comfort and the bathroom is amazing!!! All the rooms are different, ours had a huge bathroom with a modern clawfoot tub and a huge glass shower, absolutely lovely! We had our morning coffee in the living room which is beautiful both in construction and decor, and filled with the most wonderful huge windows so flooded with light. Many of the many chandeliers are antiques and beautifully cared for so they sparkle and shine wonderfully. Other rooms have balconies and/or private sitting rooms, or other wonderful features. There is even a room with turret sitting in this wonderful old mansion that has been beautifully restored so it is modern in comfort and visually a beautiful blend of antique and modern. The parking is secure and onsite, and you are only a few blocks from the beautiful spring fed lake that gives DeFuniak Springs it's name. The downtown section is also charming with a number of restaurant options, a charming museum in the old railroad depot, and the oldest library in the state still lovingly cared for. The walk around the lake is lovely, and there are may beautifully cared for old houses to look at as you walk, as well as a fountain, places to sit, and wonderful old trees. I absolutely adored this wonderful place, and will return as many times as I can. OH! and have some rooms that are dog friendly!!!
