Center Parcs Park de Haan

Travelled to Center Parcs De Haan as an alternative to the UK center parcs and was pleasantly surprised with how similar and comfortable the parks are to the uk ones. Travel crossing was simple enough taking the DFDS route Dover to Dunkirk. Nice to break up the journey and have some lunch on the way. If you are familiar to CPUK you will find it nice that the village centre is all undercover and a nice alfresco feeling to all the restaurants. There is a great (biggest I have ever seen) soft play park for kids under 12. That is free there is the odd kids play activity that operates on a load and go card system. (Which is quite expensive at 15 credits for €18 (1 credit - 1 go on the claw machine) The swimming pool is similar to Elvedon. (But without the cyclone). The Wild Water Rapids are a bit slower but there is some steeper sections where you get some speed up. On site shop is as you would expect. Great choice and variation. Great perk to have an amazing beach just 10min walk away through the trails. Would highly recommend a walk there during your visit.

I recently stayed here with my partner, our two toddlers, and my parents, we stayed at the VIP Lakeside Lodge. It is super easy to get to, less than one hours drive from Dunkirk if you’re getting the ferry. I was super anxious prior to arrival as I had read some really awful reviews and I am a self confessed clean freak, (we go to centre parcs in the UK a few times a year and I just assumed the standards would be the same) however we were really impressed with De Haan. Our accommodation was clean and tidy, the kitchen has everything you need and the lodge was really spacious. We didn’t have any issues with mould or flies etc as previous reviews have mentioned. There was a highchair, cot and an upstairs stair gate which was so handy for the kids! The lodge did get quite hot upstairs at night but once we understood the heating system it was fine. The site has lots to do especially for young children, there’s excellent outdoor play areas, a little farm, huge indoor soft play and the summing pool area is great - the changing rooms are immaculate and modern (unlike the ones at Longleat UK) The onsite shop has everything you need including a bakery, the prices are a little high but that’s typical of shops like this. there’s supermarkets a short drive away. Brugge is also a 20 minute drive away however it was sooo busy when we visited we struggled to find parking and the Christmas markets were chaos so plan in advance! We ate at the buffet restaurant one evening which was nice, drinks included for a set price. We also ate at the burger bar which was fab! The kids entertainment in the evenings is great and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Overall I’d highly recommend CP De Haan, I don’t know if we lucked out with our accommodation, or if standards have improved but we will definitely be returning!

Please ignore the very negative reviews here - this is a pleasant little Centreparcs with lots to offer. We came here as a family of 4 (boys aged 5 & 9) and they loved it! We had the premium cottage, which is basic but clean and cosy. The heating is brill, and there is a comfy sofa and pleasant outdoor space. We had cottage 101 and it was so conveniently placed - close to the road to unpack and really close to the main area and pool. There are a few supermarkets nearby (Lidl & Aldi) so we made a big shop and saved some cash by eating lunch and dinner in the cottage. The ovens are a micro/oven combined so are quite small so be aware of this when buying food. The restaurants are a bit overpriced - we found the best one to be Frituur - really tasty burgers & fries. Aqua Mondo is brill - we went everyday! Changing rooms are lovely and clean (as is everything here) It’s open till 9pm and is lovely when it’s dark. The outdoor wild water slide was a huge hit with our kids (and us!) The slides are fun too - the Belgians are very relaxed so don’t be surprised when you see people going down them backwards! The slides aren’t manned but this didn’t really bother us. There’s also a really fun soft play area called Baluba which my boys loved - and they have table service with alcoholic drinks, absolute genius! This parc is small and was very quiet from Monday - Wednesday (which was lovely!) On Thursday, which was our last day, it got much busier. This was fine, but I can imagine it’s packed there during peak season. Brugge is close - we went in on the tram for the day, which is a short walk from the parc. Overall we really enjoyed this parc and would definitely recommend!

We had an awful holiday here. Please strongly consider before booking a holiday! The cottage was run down, damp, smelly and unclean. The site told us the mould needing painting over and they attempted twice to clean it but couldn't get the cottage clean after two attempts. They suggested we complain to head office but I have sent 4 emails and they are not replying. Please don't waste your money and precious holiday time here

We decided to visit due to a £500 discount which was being offered and is half the price of UK centre parcs. Travel wise it couldn’t be easier once getting off the ferry at Calais which took 80mins and was pretty much motorways all the way. We went for a premium lodge which needed refurbing, the physical lodge was rotting in some places, the children’s bedroom window lock on the 1st floor, was hanging off and broken, meaning a child could jump out of the window. The general cleanliness was poor with cob webs everywhere and some of the storage cupboards and shelves having a layer of dust over them. There was also dried blood on one of the walls! The main center doesn’t have any air conditioning and felt hotter that mars most of the times! The water park was smaller than the UK ones and there is clearly a lack of life guards compared to the UK. The slides don’t have anyone manning them and is a free for all, at one point I had someone hit me in one of the slides, then passing on top of one of our children pushing them under the water. The rapids are dangerous and just one life guard has a limited view of the whole of the rapids. The customer service is poor! We hired some bikes and a ekart where we had to leave a deposit on the credit card (which was fine) however when we returned them we were told they weren’t allowed to give us the deposit back on the card and gave us cash instead which was on the last day, we were told to speak with the customer service desk who told us that’s how it is and if we wanted it back any other way this would take over 4 weeks to sort it! The resort is 20mins from Bruges and 5 mins from the beech. These things unfortunately made the holiday not as enjoyable as it should have been as the resort has real potential.

Lovely park, easy location, close to Bruges for the Christmas markets. Good Aquadome, rapids were brilliant!! Crazy golf was fun, and bowling was a laugh. Some staff were absolutely lovely, and others were a little grumpy, could be the time of year I suppose, or the fact that we were English, despite trying to speak a little French, at least making an effort. But didn't seem to help. Food was delicious, and the Pizza restaurant went out of their way to accommodate a gluten intolerant member of our party - top marks to them! Choice was very limited though, especially for a vegan! The accommodation was warm and comfortable, although could have been a lot cleaner!! Was very dusty and had mould spots in the bathroom and separate toilet, but I would imagine it was more damp this time of year. Lots of cobwebs in the roof areas too. All in all a lovely site, but a bit tired, and in need of an update.
