Datong Yungang Hotel

Everything in the hotel works well, sensor lights, customer service was great, breakfast was extensive.  Hotel was very grand, chandeliers in the lifts and bathrooms. Only that toiletries can be improved. Three of us had to share one tiny bottle of shower gel and shampoo. You don’t want to be worrying when it was run out and end up being stranded in the bath. Had to ask for more the next day. Other than that, highly recommended

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong. First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元. When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong). We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong! We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading ! Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

Very new hotel, very impressive decor and rooms. Very clean. Nice amenities. Location is in the new part of town, with not much going on nearby. Service a bit patchy, as often seems to be the case with newer hotels. Breakfast was a little disappointing - good quality but fairly limited choice. Overall, happy with the stay. Hotel has a lot of potential - would stay here again.

Excellent hotel with good value. Wonderful service especially from the breakfast waitress Wang Yong Xia. Rooms were exceptionally clean with no smoke smell.

An attractive, lots of marble, new hotel in Datong, well situated midway between the high speed train station and Datong’s trip venues. Breakfast is an excellent option with many Chinese and western choices in a unique setting. The staff is modestly bilingual and attentive. Good choices in Chinese restaurants about a 10 minute walk away. Rooms are large and very clean. Most western guests will find the internet access challenging. The Yungang caves are a 20 minute taxi ride. Downtown’s temples are 10 minutes away.

The best hotel to stay in Datong, very big and luxurious. Highly recommended if you are travelling here. The service is excellent and very comfy
