We really enjoyed our stay here so I thought time to update the reviews. The rooms have been renovated and are fairly simple but clean and comfortable (no air conditioning if that is important for you tho) each with a balcony. The best shower we had in Europe - no splashing water all over the room! Breakfast pretty standard and not a lot of hot food on weekdays but I observed the staff cooking fried eggs on request. The food and drinks in the restaurant were excellent and authentic with local specialties and the option to have a 20% smaller portion which we appreciated. Evening drinks and dinner on the terrace overlooking the deer were fantastic. Really felt like Summer in Europe. You will need your own transport as it is in a rural area but easy day trips to lovely towns and sites such as Aschaffenburg (Johannisburg Palace and Pompeiianum), Miltenburg and the lovely Mespelbrunn castle (cash only at the time of writing). Lots of hiking in the beautiful forest too. You will need a translation app if you don’t speak German but staff trying hard and lovely.
