Hotel Riu Karamboa - All Inclusive - Adults Only

Nice hotel - staff really friendly and work hard keeping the pool area tidy. Plenty of sunbeds available which was good. Food was good and it was nice to have a different option for lunch - always a table available. Room was nice but could have been cleaner- one day we were given a dirty towel as part of the clean towels which wasn’t very nice. We had a swim up room which was nice but not very private as the path ran alongside.

First time travelling to Cape Verde and blown away by how beautiful the place is. Found the hotel to have everything you could possibly need. There is a shop on site, however, you may want to consider bringing a first aid kit, stocked with any medicine/tablets because they do not sell them in the shop. I was very apprehensive about eating after reading reviews but found a good selection of food to eat. My partner was more adventurous than I and enjoyed the food. Finding it all to be well-cooked. Of course there are flies about, and I think it would be unfair to blame staff for these. There probably could be things in system to help the situation, like coverings over the food but then that would probably annoy people too during the busiest hours of service. Lots of variety, and liked the fact that the restaurants followed one another in timings, so if you missed main breakfast at Mogambo, you could eat at Las Dunas instead. Found it really easy to get sunbeds each day, shade coverings are provided well in my opinion. As someone who burnt their feet very badly on the first day. I’d highly recommend getting yourself under one of the cabanas and using the covering when the UV is high. Entertainment was good, all light-hearted and you can see how much effort the animation team have put into it all. Thoroughly enjoyed the white party on Friday night and would recommend that you make sure you are there of a Friday to experience this. Only downside to our trip was realising some jewellery had been taken from our room. I had made the habit of locking my suitcase but by human error had left a small packet out that had earrings and a necklace in. Whilst nothing of massive value, they still carry sentimental value. We raised this issue at the front desk and were practically told it was my own fault for not locking away or using the safe. Whilst I understand I should have made sure it was locked away, you also don’t expect to come on holiday and have things stolen from your room. We did not take the matter to the police as I don’t believe anything would be gained from doing so. It’s a lesson I’ve learnt for next time and would urge lots of people to lock away particular items. Whilst being here, we have heard of football shirts, perfumes and aftershaves being taken too. Overall, we have loved our time here in Cape Verde. I highly recommend taking advantage of the beach, it was so calming (apart from the occasional seller). Would definitely come back and explore more!

Everything was very, very good for our 7 days, couldn’t fault the comfort, entertainment, food & drink. All staff well drilled and good at their jobs. Only 3 points of note where it could be better. 1)Toilets needed on ground floor close to Restaurants. 2)An ice machine in each of the accommodation blocks would be better. 3)Minor pharmaceuticals like painkillers, anti inflammatories, plasters, diarrhoea tablets etc should be available in the hotel shop negating a costly and time consuming trip to the main town. Nevertheless great resort and would recommend to anyone seeking a chill holiday with no expectation of outside trips.

Such a lovely hotel. The staff are superbly friendly and appear to have boundless energy! Great choice of food. A range of bars and self-service drinks. Our room was large with a separate sitting room. The overall resort is huge but does not feel busy. Particular to note how clean everywhere is with staff always cleaning, tidying etc. Great to be located on the beach as nice to escape along the sand. (Current building works next door cannot be heard although you can see a crane...definitely a relaxed approach to construction!) Boa Vista: definitely windy so bring some beach towel clips plus a gallon of sun lotion! Room: kettle and tea/ coffee provided. Fridge in your room and bottled water left every day. Milk from the restaurant. Restaurants: after you have checked in and found your room then pop back to reception to do your bookings for the specialty restaurants. We visited the African and Cape Verdian - both excellent - we particularly enjoyed the CV one. Cats: you'd think from some reviews that there are herds rampaging through the resort. There feels like that there is about a dozen who are are well looked after and very friendly. You barely notice them although they do occasionally pass through the restaurant or bar. Sunbeds: the usual inconsiderate reserving of sunbeds at 8am but still plenty of choices. TUI: we booked with TUI. Excellent service and the team at the hotel are fab. Big thanks to Hannah for lending us an adaptor! We did an interesting "Capital Sights" tour with a super guide called Zau. Really helps you appreciate Cape Verdian life.

Exactly what we required, a get away from it all with wonderful customer service and beautiful beaches and hotel grounds. Plenty of bars to choose from !
