We have been loyal Sandals Club members since 2006 (Emerald Level) and have been to MANY Sandals resorts in the Bahamas, St Lucia, Jamaica four times, and Curaçao. We love Sandals and choose your resorts primarily for the Scuba diving. SCUBA DIVING Let me start by saying several positive things about Sandals Royal Curaçao SCUBA Diving. 1.The Orientation for divers who had not been diving for a while (conducted by Roderick) was convenient and done well. 2.The Dive Boat Crew (Captain Michael, Darwin, Christen) and the Scuba Dive Masters that actually went into the water with us were all caring, hardworking, professionals (for example Darnell, Joel, Ozim, Doc, Ridley, Corbin,, Captain Michael, Darwin). They really seemed to care for the divers and their safety. That being said, the management of the entire Scuba Dive program at Curaçao needs some serious rethinking. Not only did we find this to be true, but many other divers privately expressed similar feelings. 1. The initial check in on day one was slow and frustrating, with only one office staff member serving at least 6 people. She didn’t seem at all concerned and did not acknowledge our very long wait time. 2.We were denied bookings on many/ most morning dives even though we tried to book days in advance… Overcrowding was given as the reason. The only 2-tank morning dive we could get was Wednesday and it was disorganized, crowded, and very late. 3.We were only allowed to book dives two days in advance so we constantly had to check and recheck the managements records each day to be sure we were booked, and that was often confusing. RESTAURANTS 1. We arrived on Sunday but could not book either of the exclusive restaurants until Friday and Saturday. That being said, the food at these two restaurants was wonderful. 2. Of the other restaurants that did not require reservations, usually only two were open for lunch at any time… and there was a time (between about 11 and 12) when nothing as open. 3. At dinner, the non reservation restaurants were so crowded with long wait times, that we just had to order room service. GENERAL STAFF I do want to be sure to mention a few more positive aspects of Sandals Royal Curaçao that were not associated with the Scuba Program. 1.The entire staff of Room Service were extremely kind to us (for example Saoedi, Karlene, Georgianna, Juan). 2.I should also point out that the resort staff we casually met were are all cordial and very kind. I really do not write negative reviews, (instead choosing to focus on positives) but this trip to Sandals Royal Curaçao was so uncharacteristic of our other Sandals experiences, I felt management would want the feedback. Sincerely
