Castaways Cottage on Croton Pond 1)

Peaceful and quiet Peaceful spot on the lake. Kayaks available at all times. Close to conveniences.

Very nice and quiet. Bob & Joy were great! FYI....no canopy on the paddle boat.

Had a relaxing stay at Castaways Cottage The cottage was stocked with the essentials: towels, pillows, blankets, etc., though the kitchen tools and appliances were in need of a deep cleaning. In fact, the whole cottage was in need of a deep cleaning. The beds were comfortable, and overall, we were happy with the accommodations. The outdoor common areas were the best parts of the whole stay. We had many nights by the fire, and spent the days in the lake, which was very easily accessible, but does get deep very quickly. The kayaks were not usable, as they had holes worn in the bottoms of them from being dragged in and out of the lake. There was also a wasp problem on the awning that hangs over the front of cottages 1 and 2. We hiked a nearby trail one day, checked out the dam, and got some great ice cream at the Croton Bay Trading Post. Got firewood from the campground down the road. The locals were very friendly. Had a very nice lunch at The River Stop Cafe and good coffee and pastries at Timbertown Coffee in Newaygo. We had one short interaction with the hosts, who were pleasant and open to suggestions about the property. Check in and check out was a breeze.
