Avra Imperial Hotel

A lovely family holiday. Food in buffet and all the restaurants have been amazing, a great range to cater for everyone. Lovely hotel friendly staff. A few shops and restaurants around the hotel you can walk to. Overall a great holiday, I would definitely return!

Brilliant hotel. The whole place looked just like the photos used online/on the website. The staff were all great, really polite and helpful. Check in is easy and a golf buggy takes you and luggage to your room. The all inclusive plan really does include everything. You get to use all the Al a cartes for lunch and dinner, all cocktails are included, the extensive wine list is included and good quality and all premium spirits are used in drinks. We enjoyed al a carte lunch with the wood fired pizza oven and fish tacos at the beach. You can book Al a cartes via a QR code on check in. The beach is pebble, the sun loungers are free, the sea is beautifully clear and the Seaside bar at the beach provides drinks and snacks. Rooms are cleaned daily, and spacious. Fridge is only stocked with large water bottles on arrival. In the Residence Club you get a quiet private adults only pool, that always had loads of bed and access to the separate bar and Xanthi restaurant for meals. The Tuesday set menu lobster night is excellent. I would recommend the upgrade. Very nice hotel, would highly recommend. Not much evening entertainment which suited us fine, but if you like shows/kids discos etc you'll be disappointed.

We have just returned for a weeks stay, and I honestly was so pleased with our choice of hotel. We travelled with our 2 small children age 3 and 1. On arrival the front desk were so polite and we also had welcome drinks which are in the lobby area, a really nice lemon drink or refreshing water. We were taken to our rooms by concierge again great service. We had a deluxe twin pool view room and stayed on the second floor, the hotel room was spacious and bathroom was great with large walk in shower aswell as a bath. We were only half board but they replenished our room with complimentary water bottles each day which was a nice touch. Pool areas are nice, so much choice with the massive main pool then another pool on the side and then also a separate kids pool that’s covered, also both main pools are great for young kids as they have a shallow area for them to splash around etc. there are plenty of sun beds and you can get one, however if you want a good spot you would have to reserve them early. The food was good and I loved the fresh orange juice machine for breakfast, we actually didn’t get a chance to go to the ala carte restaurants, everyone says there’s not that much entertainment but to be honest that didn’t really bother us especially with young kids however, we did find there was always something going on, there is a piano player in the bar area, and the hotel was streaming the euros matches while we were there in the evening at the amphitheater, they also seemed to be advertising various shows they had coming up. Location wise it was really nice, you had a few shops across the road and it was about a 5 minute walk to the beach area with quite a few nice restaurants. The town is quiet and peaceful. Just outside the hotel is a bus stop going directly to Chania, the bus service was pleasant and because you get on close to the start of the route we got a seat, it’s also very reasonable €3.50 per adult from the hotel to Chania, and kids under 6 are free. We got the bus there and taxi back, taxis cost €40 each way. We liked that it was a short walk to the beach area and the hotel had a beach bar down there and seating area over looking the sea which was very peaceful! They also even have a pool area by the sea, they seem to have thought of everything, The facilities at this hotel were great, and it was spotless! we would definitely return!

We really enjoyed Avra imperial holiday with an all inclusive package including a private pool. The main swimming pool was great and there were a few restaurants available for variarion too. We also took advantage of the spa facility onsite and services provided. The mens facial and back massage would be highly recommended.

We stayed for 10 days all inclusive very recently as part of our honeymoon . We chose the junior suite with private pool which was amazing . The pool was well cleaned and big spacious room and bathroom . The doormen gentlemen were lovely helping us with our luggage from the coach to our suite & reception helpful too . A very large array of drinks which was great , we tried every single one . Pool bar was great as we could order then take drinks & snacks back to our suite also . The food at dinner was very good and good selection of deserts & fruits also . Breakfast was a bit of the same every day . There was 3 restaurants which you can make a reservation at as part of the all inclusive which they were fabulous food . The waiters & staff were all very very lovely also . There are cats at the hotel too just incase you don’t like cats . They hang around at breakfast / dinner & then lounge about . We love cats so was great and fed them ( they are looked after ) . But just an FYI incase you don’t like cats or are allergic . Where the hotel is there isn’t much to do at all outside so be prepared to get a taxi into the next town . No bars , restaurants or shops (only a mini market for essentials) . As you’d fly to Chania airport , you will also be the first to pick up for any excursions & airport transfer & the last to drop off so will be longer coach journey just an FYI. The big thing lacking is entertainment which others have mentioned , they have a piano player couple nights & another musician but they finished quite earlier so you then find yourself just sitting about on your phone really and going to bed early . There's no pool activity’s during day also. We had our own pool but as we went to bar a lot we saw nothing was going on. I think that it what has taken it down from a 5 star in our opinion as there is no liveliness outside the hotel you find yourself staying at the hotel but then there is no entertainment that goes on later than like 10pm . Overall lovely hotel / staff / food / room . But the isolation and no entertainment would take it to a 4 and a half stars really max .

Brilliant hotel We stayed at The Avra Imperial hotel at the beginning of June for 10 nights and we could have stayed for longer! First impressions beautiful hotel, modern, spacious and clean with friendly knowledgable staff. We stayed in a family room which was plenty big enough for the two of us and had a pool facing room with both a bath and shower. The hotel is a 40 minute bus journey from Chania which picks up and drops off from opposite the hotels main entrance. The hotel is located close to a small Harbour village which has a few bars and restaurant’s which meant it was lovely and quiet. The Hotel has three a la carte restaurants which you are able to use all three once a week which was nice. The food at the a la carté restaurants were beautifully presented and a lot better than the hotels main evening buffet. The all inclusive plus package was brilliant an excellent range of cocktails,beers,soft drinks and hot drinks and i’ve never actually been to a hotel with such a good range of drinks. We used the room service a few times during our stay which we were surprised to discover this was actually included in the all inclusive plus and at no extra cost. The sea side bar and pool bar serve food throughout the day and is often little to no wait when ordering food at these locations. The staff at the sea side bar and pool side are bar are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble! The only real let downs for this hotel was the lack of entertainment during our stay they had a pianist and live singer who were both brilliant but they stoped fairly early into the evening and often you are left heading back to your room before 10:30. The main buffet was quite a let down at both breakfast and dinner time with quite a limited hot food range often the pasta sauces/beans were stone cold which was a shame. But the fruits and deserts were lovely and presented well. Overall we had a brilliant stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a quiet and chilled break away. Home from a lovely relaxing week in Crete. Avra Imperial is a beautiful hotel and we have enjoyed every minute. The staff are very professional and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and Lobster night was a lovely treat. The room was very comfortable and luxurious, we were lucky to be upgraded on arrival which was a nice surprise after a long journey and late arrival.Thank everyone. We are planning to come back next year.

Upon review the hotel is lovely, beautiful setting and location with great access to a local bus route which takes you right into chania town in around 45-50 minutes. On the downside this hotel is not very accommodating to dietary requirements or allergies especially when you are paying excessive amounts for a five star hotel you would expect something like this to be catered for. I understand not all allergies can be catered for and some allergies are more common than others but I have never had such issue eating at an all inclusive as much as I have had here. When you enter the food hall there is a sign stating if you speak with the chef they will be able to make you something to suit your dietary/ allergy requirements. However on the second night after realising there were not many desserts that were not smothered with nuts we requested to speak with the chef, the chef informed us that ‘everything is made in the same area, just have sorbet’. No offer of making an effort to try and provide an allergy safe equivalent, other than advising I have sorbet for dessert on a 7 night stay. One evening I quite fancied a desert so I went over to the sorbet area to find that the ‘sorbets’ had all been cross contaminated and the sorbet I had been offered was infact pistachio ice cream which I am severely allergic too and would need an epi pen if eaten. I do not feel as though this hotel takes allergies seriously enough, considering they can make a whole area for gluten intolerance I feel as though they could make more effort for allergies also, especially when it puts peoples lives at risk. Some of the staff are very rude and quick to give you an answer before they can go back to chatting with their colleague again as if you are an inconvenience to them, however the daytime bar staff at the swim up bar and evening bar staff at ‘Lè bar’ are very helpful and friendly.

Just returned from a week all inclusive as a family of 4 including two young kids. We absolutely loved this hotel and would 100% recommend it. Lots of 5 star touches we were impressed with like the fruit salads you could order at any time pool side that were amazing. The food was really good....especially the al la carte restaurants and the lunch buffet at Blue Dong. The kids loved the food aslo so nothing to worry about there. For people who don't just stay in the hotel all week and want to leave, the bus stop is literally outside the front enterance which takes you to Chania in 45 minutes and Platanias in 20 mins which are worth visiting. There is not a lot outside the hotel but there is a supermarket, a few shops and a couple bars so its in a decent location. Such a bonus having the bus stop so close. The pools are amazing but the beach bar is the best to sit around if you can get a bed. A much more relaxed atmosphere and the beds are better. They also bring your drinks/snacks to your bed. A couple of things to note that may bother people. The only real negative for us was the speed of service at Le Bar which was sometimes very slow, waiting 10 minutes for a drink could be improved. The beach is a stone beach so you need a beach shoe to go in the water which is amazing once you are in (difficult with young children). Also the entertainment isnt really aimed at kids which didnt bother us but may put some people off. There was a magician once who did a 1 hour show which the kids enjoyed. Other than that there is a piano player and someone playing guitar once a week which are more like background entertainment. Overall we thought this was a perfect hotel for a holiday which balances the needs for adults and children. Its not a hotel aimed solely at kids but there was loads of pools and easy access to water parks and tourist towns for the kids to enjoy for a day when you leave the hotel if you want to as we did.
