Our stay at the Ocean Sands Hotel was very disappointing from start to finish. Even before we could check in or see the room, they were quite happy to take full payment upfront—which felt frustrating in hindsight given the experience that followed. The room itself was around 34°C (93°F) with no air conditioning and only a small window that could be opened. It was so hot and stuffy that we had to keep the room door open just to bring the temperature down to 31°C, which was still unbearably uncomfortable. When we asked at reception about air conditioning, we were told the room had none but they could send up two fans. After an hour with nothing delivered, I had to go back down to reception, where they claimed they thought the fans had already been sent. Another hour passed and, after calling twice—once being hung up on—they finally brought up just one fan, which barely helped. Even then, the room only cooled to about 27°C, and we had to keep the fan running all night just to manage a bit of sleep. The restaurant was another disappointment: it took quite a while just to get seated, even though it wasn’t especially busy at the time. Overall, the customer service throughout the stay was extremely poor—slow to respond, dismissive, and at times rude. At check-out the next morning, we left a complaint, but the only response we got was that they would “have a look at it.” Overall, it was an uncomfortable and frustrating stay, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Safe to say we won’t be back.
