The Lakes by Yoo

The perfect place to unwind in a luxury retreat. The most amazing views, food, overall facilities, room, spa, staff, everything - and so much to do! Absolutely 10/10, will definitely come back and bring the whole family and rent a canoe, hire bikes etc! Still in awe at how beautiful our room was, they really have thought of everything - even leaving us a freshly baked sourdough loaf and some jam was a lovely touch! We didn't want to leave - we could honestly live here! Also loved visiting the onsite farm and exploring the beautiful grounds. Haven't stopped thinking about this place since

We recently stayed at The Lakes by Yoo and had an absolutely wonderful time. Finding a place that truly caters for both parents and children is rare—but this place ticks every box. It is a calm and idyllic setting where you can fully immerse yourself in nature, unwind, relax and recharge. Some of our favourite highlights: the breath-taking views, scenic walks, swimming outdoors and in, beautifully designed interiors, the cosy log-burning fire, freshly baked welcome treats (sourdough bread, cake and jam) and the indulgent Wildsmith and Moss of The Isles products. It is also a brilliant spot from which to discover more of the Cotswolds. We loved every moment of our stay and are already longing to go back. It really is, as they say, “easy to reach, hard to leave.”

The experience we had over bank holiday weekend was extremely mixed. The accommodation was beautiful, and the site is very well maintained (note that no mirror in the bedroom is a bit odd given that it meant ther was nowhere to get ready in the morning). The staff were also lovely, and largely very young, but the service was erratic. Even considering that it was of course busy with it being bank holiday, the mixed messaging and sense of stress about getting bookings and accessing facilities was bizarre. We were told the restaurant simply couldn't take us as they were full booked for food, but when we got there for a drink, there were lots of spare tables and they were more than happy to serve us food. Again with breakfast, despite booking a B&B rate, there was no record of our booking including breakfast and the restaurant staff attempted to charge us. I think the restaurant and hotel must be running as separate businesses, as we were also refused some ice to take back to the room for our wine cool from the restaurant (following trying to contact the concierge via multiple different methods, all of which weren't in service). Also, no water or working water fountain in the gym/spa, and all of the dyson hair tools in the women's locker rooms were faulty. Great concept, facilities and location, but the service and upkeep needs work.

This is a lovely secured place, we really enjoyed. A few things that were a disappointment was the restaurant. I believe for the price of the properties, there should be another restaurant on site, and maybe a Juice bar and small shop. The food in the restaurant was ok, but overpriced for what it is. The pizza I had to send back as it had an awful taste. The gym was nice, but could have had a few more weight machines. The property itself was lovely, and the decor and finish inside was top notch. I ordered fishing nets and a double kayak, I didn’t receive these until midday. The staff also didn’t recommend the best places to use these, and we found a great place on our last day which if the information was given on arrival we would of known for the full duration of our stay. The check in staff needs to provide more information.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The hotel had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The spa was lovely – beautifully decorated, serene, and the perfect place to unwind. After a relaxing session, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the on-site restaurant, where the wood-fired pizza was out of this world! Crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The combination of excellent service, stunning decor, and great food made this trip unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and indulge in style!

This was our first time travelling with a baby, and we chose to stay at a Cabin on Marley Lake. Overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience, the surroundings are stunning, the cabins are thoughtfully designed, and the setting really does feel special. There were many highlights: the spa massage was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had, and the restaurant food was excellent. It’s a wonderful place to switch off and relax. That said, there were a few things that could be improved to make the experience even better. Our cabin unfortunately ran out of hot water on two separate occasions mid-bath, and with bathing a baby this was very frustrating. On arrival, we also noticed the umbrella on the decking was broken, and cigarette butts had been left on the decking, which took away from the otherwise beautiful outdoor space. In terms of facilities, sockets in the room weren’t very accessible (a bit tricky with a baby), and at the spa the only baby changing option was in the disabled toilets—a dedicated family changing room would make a big difference. The pool and hot tub were also very cold, we left shortly afterwards as it took away from the experience. Lastly, while the food at the restaurant was excellent, the service was noticeably slow, which did let the experience down slightly. We also had takeaway from the restaurant when we arrived at our cabin it all arrived cold. Lakes by Yoo it’s a truly special retreat. With a few improvements, particularly for families, it could be exceptional. We would love to return in the future, under different circumstances to make even more memories.
