PlayaOlid All Inclusive

Just enjoyed a lovely much needed a JET2 all inclusive week away at Hotel Playa Olid in Costa Adeje Tenerife, good spacious accommodation, great food for a 3star all inclusive it has a good freshly cooked varied options each serving (the Chinese night was as good as any Chinese Restaurant) They also do the standard repetitive boring same stuff (hot dogs/ chips/burgers if you don’t wish to try something different) , there’s some weirdly funny nighttime entertainment, nice pools, pool tables, table tennis and clubs for young kids and a separate area for teens that has PlayStations, We were well looked after by all the staff, the drinks are local and so you have to go through a few to find something you like as some of it is harsh, the beer tho is Amstel…. Personally go for the Mojito, Wine, Baileys or Beer, the sangria was either hit or miss depending who made it… For a decent Latte order a coffee with Milk & a hot milk and poor them both into a bigger plastic glass and add some baileys The resort has lovely walks on front all the way to La Caleta, and we got sunny ☀️ hot weather all week… Just what we needed A good barometer of the kind of dedicated staff is that there was a hotel staff strike across Tenerife for 2 days, however you wouldn’t have noticed it here as the staff turned up and nothing at the hotel was seemingly effected unlike most of the 5star hotels that had pickets and big disruption for those days…

I was worried after reading some of the reviews about this place. But decided to make my own mind up once we got here. Firstly the staff are amazing. So pleasant friendly and helpful. The food, fresh fresh fresh and also very tasty. Cannot complain about the food. Huge selection for every meal. Kids had a blast. Pools, all spotless, they are out every morning scrubbing the surroundings of the pool, fixing missing parts daily and sterilising and power washing the sun beds daily. Rooms very spacious and comfy. Albeit outdated and could do with some new furniture and decoration but hey, we spent our days out and about and only slept and showered in the rooms so big deal at all. We had an issue with the shower being blocked. Someone was at the door within 2 mins of being reported and fixed right away. Entertainers, where do I start especially Danny. Unbelievable. Their shows, kids club, mini disco etc. amazing. Keep up the great work everyone.

After reading a lot of the poor reviews I was concerned before getting there with my partner and two children (12&10). I shouldn’t have been worried, as a lot of people have said, it’s a 3 star hotel and you shouldn’t expect 5 star standards. There was always something from the buffet that all of the family would eat and that was for all meals. Staff were very helpful and friendly, drinks were fine. Yes the rooms could do with an upgrade at some point but they were acceptable. Nice walk down to the beach and shops, yes it is up a bit of a hill but there were always taxis available for a few euros should you want that. There’s been a few comments about the pool opening at 10am but it wasn’t an issue and neither were getting the sun beds if you were happy to be up on the upper level but you could still keep an eye on your children through the glass balcony. Would I go back. Yes.

Do not be put off by the negative reviews. Is this hotel perfect? No Is the hotel 5* quality? No Is the hotel selling itself as being 5*? No Are you paying the same as you would at a 5*? Of course not!!! The hotel is great, it's clean, the staff are brilliant (and I genuinely mean each and every one of them) and the food and drinks are on par with pretty much every all inclusive I've been to (sangria comes highly recommended). The evening entertainment is what you'd expect (I'd advise you to take playing cards and Uno 🤣), in the day the animation team were great without being pushy, and the on-site excursion desk was really helpful too. It's a 10 Min walk to the beach (5 Euro back up the hill if you need assistance), there's a bus stop outside, and a couple of local supermarkets plus a larger one just a few mins walk away. Thanks PlayaOlid, I won't necessarily return as like to try new places each year, but please please please don't stress about this place...it's more then adequate, so relax and enjoy your holiday!

Having just landed back from our Holiday At PlayaOlid I am pleased to be back in the UK. As with any hotel there is always a couple of bad reviews but crikey this has been a negative experience. •Rooms /Apartments- Booked a Premium Family Apartment and safe to say there wasn’t anything premium about it, I complained and said my room looked nothing like a premium room advertised on the website to be greeted with the reception managers response “ can’t you see we don’t get premium visitors !” Upon returning to the hotel from an excursion we went to open the door for our room in which it just fell off its hinge and was left hanging on by one bolt. If you don’t mind mouldy showers , shower curtains that are that yellow and grimey its magnolia instead of white, bathtubs that don’t drain , pool tiles mouldy and dirty . The bedroom and floors were not cleaned properly , upon having the cleaner return to clean the floor we observed there cleaning consisted of spraying an aerosol cleaner onto a dry mop and just brushing it briefly along the floor. The walls in the room had mould on and there was previous occupiers used cigarettes around the balcony. •Staff- I found the male animation team boisterous and passive aggressive . And on one occasion I found them inappropriate especially one day with the blow up slide where his actions were inappropriate and pushed a maybe 8 year old girl and tapped her on the bottom. Reception staff as previously mentioned are rude and treat you like you’re not a valued guest. • Food - if you’re after a Very limited choice of food this is your place to go. The quality of food and drink is very cheap, poor quality. As a family It cost us the earth on food and drink outside of the hotel which if not budgeted for because of the All-inclusive package can leave you with little food option. However if you find yourself stuck with the food options we found a lovely restraunt at the bottom of the hill at the roundabout called La Flaca aka Wigan Pier. As a family we love Costa Adeje and this hotel has let us down this year!

So let me start with saying I’ve been to a fair few all inclusive resorts in Spain and Tenerife with partner and children, varying hotel stars but mainly 3 star. I booked as a package via Jet2 based on images on jet2 and the hotels website and also reviews on here. The negative reviews didn’t bother me as I get that everyone has their own thoughts and preferences. Checked in nice and easy and had a room in block 1 floor 1. I booked a 1 bed premium room as we are 2 adults and 2 children. We actually received a 2 bed-brilliant I thought and then we walked in. The room was nothing like the images, it’s very dated, pine furniture and dark rooms other than the living area, safe to say I wasn’t overly impressed but at least it was clean. We had an en-suite however the shower head was broken so didn’t use the shower, no problem as we were only expecting 1 bathroom and only brought toiletries to share for 1 bathroom. The room had a patio which lead directly onto a sunbathing area, not too keen on this and would have preferred a room higher up for a balcony. The patio doors did not lock properly. You think they are locked however you can pull one the doors across the other and it will open despite being locked. There is a lot of Astroturf everywhere, not overly pleasant and filthy round the pool. Usual queuing for sunbeds around the main pool as it’s locked until 10am however you can easily get a sunbed on the terrace above the pool and outside our patio. Food is terrible. Not much choice and even the kids section didn’t have chicken nuggets- just the same tinned hotdog sausages and pretty awful looking burger patties every day. We had breakfast once, lunch once and attempted the evening meal twice all other times we ate out. Pros- *Staff were great especially the entertainment team. *Decent location. Cons- *as per above description. Would I come here again-absolutely not. It was an expensive holiday and gutted we wasted our money.
