Our first visit to Tenerife. The Tivoli was chosen as not too expensive, aimed mainly at adults and slightly out of town. We did not know that it had benefitted from extensive refurbishment, leaving the grounds and pool areas in perfect order. Lots of sunny spots, sun beds, a freshwater pool, a salt water pool, as well as adults only pools make for ample daytime space to relax. Waiter service is available at all pools. But . . . the music. There is no escape from the repetitive beats of intrusive, auto generated music. What does this add? I should move on. Reception helpfully assisted us in an early room change. On reflection, perhaps they had placed us on the outside wall of the hotel as a refuge from that music? Leave it - I said move on. Nevertheless, we soon had a large, clean room with a balcony. Apparently the majority of rooms are more or less identical apart from the view and the size of the terrace. I can't personally vouch for that. The room features everything anyone needs. Decent toiletries and quality towels in the bathroom, stocked minibar, iron and ironing board, ample hanging space. WiFi and all that stuff. What are the restaurants like you ask? Yakusa, was enjoyable, the nightly buffet is far superior than many others we have experienced, we enjoyed a meal with friends at Seen where they placed us away from . . . that music. This time courtesy of a DJ. Actually the tunes were quite acceptable here. Like any other hotel overall satisfaction depends upon the chemistry of three elements, location, the building and the staff. The location is great, out of the door onto a promenade for as long a walk as you feel like. Perhaps along to La Caleta, itself home to some better than average restaurants. Watch out for the paragliders landing like feathers on a breeze, close to the watching strollers. The hotel building is interesting, covered in greenery, super clean. The staff are well trained, alert, friendly and generally do everything they can to make your stay a little better. Bravo! Is the Tivoli perfect? Not quite. Did I mention the pool music? Probably, but I forgot to mention the beautiful spa. Didn't try it but will next time.
