Galera Beach Apartamentos

This place could be fabulous but sadly is grim, neglected and unsafe (see photos). Pros:- location, staff, wifi, regularly cleaned and pool area. Cons:- neglected, grim ( owners like beige). Limited storage in bedroom, sofa bed is a bed, not a sofa, bare minimum of equipment in the kitchen. No cover on light switch in bedroom(see photos) this was reported on day one ,nothing done 14 days later. Owners have no interest in basic maintenance of their building. Overall it was over priced and over-rated. Will not be returning or recommending.

The pros The staff here are so nice and accommodating. The location is brilliant with a beautiful beach view. It is spotlessly clean and the beds are comfortable. The cons There’s not enough wardrobe space or hangers. The shower leaks all over the bathroom floor no matter what you do. The lighting isn’t the best and there’s very little room in the bathroom for toiletries. The kitchen has a tiny pan and 2 pots. 2 ring hob and microwave. No grill or oven and very limited utensils. If you plan on cooking there’s limited space. It badly needs to be redecorated. It’s such a pity because it really could be such a gem. We haven’t been since pre covid and we are glad that we went back to Galera Beach. The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing beach holiday. Right on the beach, five minutes walk from the shopping centre and supermarket where the twice weekly craft market is held and less than 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The rooms were cleaned regularly and fresh towels almost every day. It was lovely to sit on the balcony in the shade in the afternoon and look out on to the sea. Very very relaxing. We have tried a few other apartments before we found this one and now it will always be our first pick. Reception staff very friendly and helpful and good that they stock large bottles of water so you dont have to carry them from the shops.

First of all: The official images of this place are some years old and it's in a much worse condition. Doors can't close in the apartment, the floors in the bathroom are water damaged, electrical outlets loose and dangerous and the outside area looks much more worn now than on the pictures. However, the apartment has a nice size with 2 bedrooms and a small living room with a small terrace - perfect if you're travelling with kids. The location can't really be any better. You're situated right on the beach with a beach cafe around the corner. Also a short walk to the city with many shops and restaurants. The pool is too cold to use during the European winter period - and is also so small and worn out, that it doesn't look appealing to use at all. Swim in the sea if you want to cool down. We were here in January/February and didn't swim at all. If you get the stay here at a bargain price, it's worth the value. Be aware, if you travel with kids, that there are many pensioners at this place and some of them doesn't like kids. We had some old timers shout at our 3 and 5 year old for playing outside the terrace. The staff is friendly and service minded - but not very handy, as you can see by the quality of the repairs in the apartments.

I would have giving this place 5 stars. But the staffs children came late afternoon in the pool area and its only alowed to be 5 in the pool. Noisy and using the pool and sittingsarea. We have been many places in the world and very rarely such a nice cozy hotel. Small and cozy hotel. Few rooms and so Nice. We stayed in apartment 15, great view east coast front. Fine beds and lots of place to have our stuff. A/C is in the livingroom thats wery nice. Good cleaning. The reception is only open about 7 hours and when it is closed, the doors outside is closed. So wery safe place. Ok sunbeds some are broken. Small area with chairs or sofa easy to find shadows. Clean pool. Its the only hotel near the sand Beach. Both sides are wery rocky. Not many guest at the hotel. So it felt like we were the only ones. You can buy 5L water and nothing else. Its wery quite. The hotel could need a hand with love. I am glad we choised this hotel. Its not the must luxery place but we thougt it had the best location and it was just so wery nice. There are Beach towels. If you are standing in front of the beach and turn right and walk 3 km, you will find a long sand beach. There aint any hotels and bars etc. at this place Its about 1 km long

We found this bar when walking along the beach. A great location for people watching and sea views. The service was very friendly and prompt from all the staff. Big shout out to Jimmy. This review is purely for the bar and not the apartments as we did not stay there. This bar become a bit of a local for us because of the location and service. Will say the prices are higher than the other nearby beach bars. They are not doing live music at the moment. Apparently because of covid. I couldn't really work that one out. Overall a great spot and great service.
