Atlantic Garden Beach Mate

This ‘hotel’ has really gone downhill. We first visited in December 2021 and whilst it was basic it was spotless and there was an actual reception to report issues to if needs be. Now it is just a WhatsApp number. I believe the reception does open but we have no idea of times. This year I am actually disgusted at the state of the apartment, the black mould in the shower is something else, we’ve been here for 3 full days and have not spotted a housekeeper yet! There is a mop & brush on the balcony so I’m assuming housekeeping is a DIY affair? My sister has a larger family than I and is residing in a Bali Suite, it is so ill equipped in terms of basic kitchen items and utensils that she’s had to borrow from my and my mothers apartments as well as buy some items. My mother had this exact suite in 2022 and it was excellent. The WiFi is non existent. We are in room 168, and it is pitch black outside the room at night. My husband is visually impaired and he is struggling to get around. There are lights in the hotel grounds in close proximity to our room, but they are not working/ not turned on. There are so many loose/ missing tiles in the children’s pool, it requires some TLC. We were so looking forward to our visit as we had such an enjoyable one 3 years ago, however we have been severely let down and will not return. My parents are here on their tenth visit and have decided that, sadly, this is their last, I think this speaks volumes. I’m literally giving it 2 points for location.

We stayed at these apartments 30 years ago and decided to give them a try again. It's an experience, I will not be repeating! On arrival an extremely panicked maid was till in the room as the lock on the sliding doors to the patio was broken. I went to use the bathroom and the toilet had no flush. Went into the lounge are and found a hug rip in the faric on the sofa. The guy at reception was not at all welcoming. We greeted him a smile and he barely made eye contact. The furniture around the pools weren't clean at all with stains on mattresses. The gardens are very well kept but sadly guest areas are not up to standard. I cannot fault the location. I know this complex is not a 5 star, but that should not be an excuse for doors that don't lock, toilets that don't flush and guest areas being dirty. It's so sad to see a once vibrant complex a shell of its former self.

Second visit here , ideal position for the beach, shopping area, restaurants, all different shops from gifts , clothing and loads more. Area is lovely and people friendly. Booked a private apartment, it was OK, booking through the hotel is better. Beware if you have problems with disruptive neighbours if in non hotel booking they can't do anything. Female group while we visited that screamed and shouted at four children and the language was disgusting. However the life guard BJ offered child minding to the four children and kept them entertained. Used the life buoys in the pool to tow them around the pool regardless of what ever else was going on, totally shameful... Hotel really needs to maintain better control of what's going on within the grounds. You're losing control of a lovely setting and allowing others to spoil it for the rest of us.

We didn't book direct. Instead we opted to book a private apartment with air bnb. Such a contrast to the other reviews. Our apartment was impeccable! Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could want or need. So the complaints about infestations and no towells did not apply to us. We did love the complex. The poolside bar/snack bar did shut at 7pm but that wasn't a problem as the local shopping centre had many fantastic restaurants and it was barely 2 minutes walk. The pool bar is just that ..... for when your at the pool. There were lots of sundowners and it was quiet and relaxing. We spent many evenings just sitting on our terrace watching the hedgehogs foraging. It was bliss. The only downside was that the poolside floor was not fit for purpose. I slipped badly coming out if the pool and Huryt myself. I did see 2 other people slip also. The floor around the pool needs some anti slip tape or artificial grass added to stopvthis else someone will have a serious accident. It did not affect everyone. I have mobility problems and the other 2 people were 60+ ish. I was happy just not to go in the pool tho. It was a shame but the pros of the complex outweighed the cons. 4€ in a taxi to the main strip or a 15 minute walk to either the strip or the closest beach. 2 minutes to an extensive supermarket, shops, bars, chemist and bus terminus but still with peace and tranquility. The vibe on the complex was good and the Liverpudlian family didn't bother me. I enjoyed watching their 2 children play happily. The staff are friendly and the grounds and gardens are meticulously tended too. Lots of greenery in a stark landscape. We will book again.

Positives: Nice Quiet complex which is very safe. Close to shopping centre and market Sadly this complex was not for us, it lacked atmosphere, a mixture of hotel, owner rented and owner occupied accommodation. Its a just a little too far out from the old town - about 15 -20 min walk for busier bars. Gardens kept clean and tidy - Salt Water Pools - that are quite shallow - 1.6 m depth. We stayed in owner rented accommodation. Pool Bar open until 7pm but the kitchen closes at 5 PM Great for 48 hour visit

Positives first. Apartment, clean, beds very comfortable, great to have a washing machine and washing tablets too. Great idea to have a bag with salt and pepper, olive oil, etc... found that really useful. 4 toilet rolls supplied and washing up liquid, scouring pad and dishcloth. Comfortable and relaxing . Very handy for shopping as you are very close to the shops, bars and restaurants. Felt very safe on the complex, entrance gate key coded more complexs should do this as it stops others having access to the pool etc.. lovely pool for young children. Pool bar very reasonable. Reception staff very helpful, supplied additional towels. Plenty of sun loungers. Lovely patio furniture. Grounds kept nice. Negatives.. No information in the apartment regarding where to take waste, and how to locate where it is,house keeping arrangements. Leaving keys in the box outside reception upon departure. Taxi numbers, etc.. things that guest would find useful . Swimming pools at times didn't look very clean. Large pool at the top roped off for days .. Our sun umbrella unable to open.
