Pazo do Río

I had a pleasant stay at the Pazo. I stayed in one of the apartment villas which was quite spacious inside. The white chairs in the bedrooms were not the cleanest looking but other than that the rest of the apartment was clean. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and the area around the hotel is very tranquil. I paid for breakfast but think it was a bit too expensive for a simple continental style breakfast (the almond cake was very delicious but I would have liked some english breakfast/earl grey teabags). The apartment roof was a bit creaky at night but the sound was easily drowned out by the tower fan in the bedroom.

Nice property, staff and grounds. shame restaurant was barely open and bungalows feel a bit dated.

It is a beautiful property, but it is on a steep hill making it a little tough to get luggage in & out. We stayed in the villas which gave us room to gather as a family, but be aware there is no AC. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the pool, but the restaurant was closed for dinner both nights we were there (Sunday & Monday). They did direct us to use the app Glovo to order food for delivery. We were able to get some meals using that both nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place.

As we were attending a family wedding here, we decided to stay in an apartment (villa) for a few days. We had a very warm welcome from the guy on reception, who was really helpful throughout our stay. The villas are all detached and very unusual looking as can be seen in the photos. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which was incredibly spacious, comfortable and well-maintained. The complex is beautifully kept and fascinating to wander around. Although it was absolutely full, it was amazingly quiet most of the time. However, be warned that the weddings can go on until 3:00 and the noise is incredibly loud. We were attending one, so not complaining! The supermarket is about a 15 minute walk or very short drive away and the beach a 30 minute walk. The ancient pazo is fabulous inside and the grounds are beautiful. We didn’t have chance to eat there (4 days of family celebrations - anyone who has attended a Spanish Boda will understand the amount of food involved!) This hotel is where we will always stay midweek when in A Coruna in future.

Although listed as a hotel it is not a hotel per se- more like a self catering family holiday park, albeit an up market one. Our travel agent booked it for us as part of a tour around northern Spain. We had requested only 4 or 5 star hotels. The grounds are beautiful but that’s the only positive thing I can say. The staff were rude, in particular the waitress on the terrace on Saturday evening. Originally we thought it was a language barrier issue but the next day at breakfast she was just as rude - in fact the word we would use is hostile!!! She was surly and severely lacks customer service skills. The receptionist when we checked in could also do with some training in customer service. The property is in a residential area and the restaurant isn’t open in the evening. You can’t even get a soft drink after 8.00pm!! When we did ask for a drink whilst waiting for a taxi we were made to feel like we were asking for the impossible! We were given a one bedroom apartment which was like a tin box. Although it looked quirky it was like a greenhouse! It was stifling and there was no air conditioning. Really - metal room without air con????? We were so so disappointed with our visit and would struggle to recommend it. In all honesty we couldn’t wait to leave. We were so disappointed that we will be suggesting our travel agent thinks twice before booking any one else a room there!!! Not impressed!!!!

Llegamos sobre las 21.00 al hotel 4 estrellas ! Nos atiende la única chica en todo el recinto para hacer el check In Nos extraña ya que al ser un Hotel y aparta Hotel cuatro estrellas, no sorprende que no existe ni bar,restaurante, ni ningún tipo de servicio hacia las habitaciones y nos dicen que las 12:00 de la noche el Hotel queda totalmente sin personal no es propio de cuatro estrellas en España ni en los hostales ocurre eso, Entramos en el apartamento, y es como si retrocederíamos a los años 90 dejado sucio y muy estropeado las maderas de los baños, las mesitas de noche, los cristales, totalmente sucios, las cortinas sin funcionar. En fin un espacio que en su día tenía de ser muy bonito pero en la actualidad totalmente obsoleto . Resultado que el engaño está en el hotel pazo do rio, que es el que vende ya que los apartamentos están catalogados como 3 tenedores Nunca he escrito nada, criticando los lugares!!! pero creo que este establecimiento tiene de ocuparse más de los huéspedes que quieren alojarse en el ,,,, y menos de los eventos que hace que entiendo que les atrae más como negocio !! y si no, que quite la categoría de cuatro estrellas y se ponga como hostal y fiestas y eventos!!
