The Beach House at Bayside

I never do this - leave reviews, except restaurants. This property, its brilliant staff, location quietness, condition and inclusions screamed at me to leave this review. I’ve stayed at some differing types of accommodation around the world in my time but never have I come across a stay like this one! From 5 star Hotels to lo-cal humble onsite Dongas in remote areas. I thought I’d seen them all. I’m a fa-natic for cleanliness and The Beach house Bayside in Albany Western Australia gets a 10/10 from my scorebook. But, not only for its cleanliness. My room was well appointed and surprisingly comfortable lounge chairs added to the charm, along with the King bed, Spa, heated towel rack, ambient and controllable light-ing big TV and quiet aircon, not forgetting the bath robes and supplied slippers. Wooden cedar window shutters inside is a very nice touch too. Outer corridors security locked were light and airey with interesting art on the walls leading to an immaculate courtyard where it would be easy to work or read listening to the beautiful bubbling water feature seated on comfortable outdoor patio fur-niture. Easy access to clean adequate garden featured car park from this area too. Breakfast was included in my room pricing and I’m so glad it was too! I’m a re-tired Chef with many, many years of experience in the hospitality industry and I COULD NOT FAULT the dining room or continental breakfast layout and choice. There is so much more I could review for this property but I’ll leave that for you if ever you have the need to pamper or spoil yourself. This discovery will meet all expectations and then exceed them like it did for me I’m sure. The location of this B&B is very quiet and very handy for a walk along the Middleton Beach footpath to Emu Point. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the Rooms is not up to the standard of 5 star accommodation, which is how it is described on the Website. There are lots of little failings which gives the appearance of very little maintenance or lack of money. e.g. broken venetians, bad lighting in the bathroom and inferior toiletries. There is a cooked breakfast available, but the presentation had little imagination. This business has been operating now for some years, but it badly needs renovating and modernising to make it stand out amongst its category.

We stayed one night in the beach house at bayside. The rooms are clean, spacious and have everything you need. Breakfast was perfect including fresh made egg specialties. Great stay travellingaround

This was a beautiful guest house - everything about it was first class. Rooms themselves clean, modern , comfortable. Lovely breakfasts , and added bonus of cake and port available in a very nice lounge . Could come and go at any time , free laundry service . Room had spa bath and felt very luxurious.

Wonderful Stay! We had such a great stay here. From the moment we arrived to freshly baked sweet treats and port on offer, the place felt very welcoming. We stayed as two couples in rooms 5 and 6 and both rooms were very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and parts of them have been refurbished. Yes, some of the furniture is slightly old fashioned but everything is well maintained, immaculate and adds to the charm. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen was very good quality which ensured a peaceful night’s sleep. We were slightly apprehensive about arriving after reading some of the later reviews which appear to be after the previous owners sold up. However, everything was fantastic. The duty manager, Christina, was welcoming and friendly. We overheard her going out of her way to accommodate two guests who had been double booked by their booking company, and other guests said the garden suites were also lovely. We had a delicious cooked breakfast who we were told by Christina was done by a new ‘apprentice’ and it was delicious so long may she continue at this lovely guest house. There was also plenty of fresh coffee, juices, fruits, yoghurts and different breads and muffins for toast on offer. Breakfast was extremely well organised considering it was only Christina and the apprentice working. We were genuinely sad to leave and would have loved to have stayed longer. Next time we visit Albany we will stay again and can’t wait to see the future of this wonderful place. Thanks again, the McKays. Highly highly recommend.

We were somewhat concerned when we read the review that we would be hassled by lots of staff. This could not have been further from the truth. There was no one to see as we collected our key. The room was clean and comfortable with all things you would expect. The “spa” reference turned out to be a bath with a jacuzzi in it. Fine but fully exposed to bedroom as was shower. We found a screen downstairs to add a bit of privacy. Continental breakfast was fairly average but cooked scrambled eggs and bacon very good. There were treats to eat as well as port. There was a lounge where a few people sat rather uncomfortably. It felt more like a house on a residential road, than a hotel. It worked I suppose but a little peculiar.
