We had an amazing spa day as a group of 5 ladies for my birthday treat. We arrived at Cowley and walked the grounds first which was a great start to the day. We then went down to the spa, Charlotte and Ellie at reception couldn’t have made us feel more relaxed and made sure our day ran smoothly. The spa was very clean, tidy and peaceful! Olivia gave me the best back massage I’ve ever had, it was incredible!

It’s hard to put into words how disappointing our spa visit was. This is barely a spa. It’s two pools and a higgledy piggledy shop/reception with an extremely weird assortment of things and a changing room so small that we had to wait for our turn to enter and dry off/change because it was crammed with about 5 women. There are literally over 40 lockers but space for 3 to sit down. Crazy. Our biggest disappointment was the terrible attitude of the space staff. Worst I have ever encountered. From the moment we walked in they made it clear us being there was a huge inconvenience. Ordering food was an inconvenience. Ordering drinks a pain. Four young ladies standing around giggling and gossiping and yet the photos I attach shows you the appalling state of the bathroom. No towels collected, no hand towels replaced. Finger marks everywhere and gross shower area. Never has there been a place I’ve been so hyped about and been SO let down. What a waste of time and money :(

We spent 2 nights at Cowley Manor with Mr & Mrs Smith which included breakfast. We were unexpectedly upgraded from a Wildflower room to a Petite Cowley room (21) in the main building at the front. The room was huge and really nicely appointed. Free Wifi throughout the hotel, flat screen TV, tea/coffee facilities, safe, hair dryer, sofa and chairs. The bathroom was also very spacious indeed. The hotel is really nice and the grounds are huge to walk and explore. We had the champagne afternoon tea which was excellent and also dined one evening as well which again was superb. Yes it is expensive but I think the quality and service warrants the cost. Breakfast was also very good (0730-1000). Basically a buffet with a variety of homemade produce. The croissants were some of the best I have ever tasted! You can also have a variety of cooked items should you wish. Spa facilities were very modern and an indoor and outdoor pool (both heated) are nice touches. There is also a games room with a pool table and darts board and a fantastic bar and loads of outdoor seating. The staff were also excellent as well, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful setting, staff eager to help but..:.the cost vs product is way off. I ordered a vegetarian burger for…£16!! It came with no sides whatsoever. That’s extortionate. It just feels like a hotel that’s been 70% finished but not quite had the final touches to warrant the price tag. The spa is lovely but again, you can see the areas that have been upgraded and those that haven’t. If anything it makes the latter more obvious. New decor isn’t to my taste but that’s personal. It’s a manor hotel in the Cotswolds but it’s been decorated with a Palm Beach/retro 60s vibe that I can’t help think is going to feel outdated in that setting in a few years (if not already). I would go back for an - overpriced - coffee on the terrace and maybe a swim (I live locally) but I definitely wouldn’t eat there again - and I wouldn’t recommend it to friends in the area, sadly. Barnsley House, Calcot etc all deliver better quality for a more ‘reasonable’ price.

Have visited 3 times in the past month and have used the spa and the restaurant…each time the service has been terrible. This morning I sat on the terrace and tried to order a coffee but no staff anywhere…after 15 minutes, asked if reception could assist me and she sorted it…but after that, no-one asked if we would like more drinks etc. Same issue with the spq, after you arrive and check in, there is no one checking if you are comfortable and/or would like a drink. It’s impossible to get any service. I have been here since 9am and at no point has anybody asked if I would like anything. If I do choose to return in the future, I’ll ensure I bring my own drinks and snacks…or go to Calcot, where the service is notably better. You could be significantly increasing your revenue, if you improved on the issue. I estimate I would have spent about £50 on coffee and drinks so far this morning…and there are 4 of us here. The hotel is in a beautiful setting…the one positive aspect. This hotel could be excellent, if Management were to get a grip of the issues!

Lovely room that we stayed at, was very spacious and comfortable. Shower was great and everything was very clean, with plenty amenities. Treatment at spa was the best part of the day - a special mention to Rachel for the friendly, accomodating experience throughout.

The design is utterly beautiful and simultaneously completely impractical the place is so dark you can’t read in your room. There is no plug by a mirror. The kettle has to be plugged in on the far side of the room. It’s a triumph of style over substance. The staff are great and the grounds gorgeous. The food was good at dinner and mediocre at breakfast. Could be perfect if they reviewed the lighting and electrical circuits - the staff said it’s a frequent complaint so it needs sorting. Whoever messed up the symmetry with this mirror/TV arrangement please think again!

Trying too hard and doesn’t reach the expected standard. Overpriced for what it delivers. Came for a 50th birthday treat and despite emailing there was no acknowledgment of the occasion. Poor service with inexperienced staff. If you want to spend this kind of money go elsewhere as there are other places with better service
