Spent three nights here whilst visiting family. The hotel is in a great location with the back rooms overlooking the golf course. The boating lake and lakeside station of the miniature railway are opposite, as is the (claimed) smallest pub on the planet - the signal box inn which seemed popular. There is a lovely walk behind the hotel, along the beck to the country park and lake. There is also a small retail park a short walk from the front of the hotel with MacDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell etc. The hotel is some distance from the main rail station - it took me 50mins to walk although I wasn't hurrying. It's a pleasant walk along the promenade and the footpath/cycle track by the boating lake. There are however several buses from outside the hotel including 8,9,10 & 17 that take you to or near the pier which is close to the station. I dined in the on site restaurant with my nephew and we enjoyed it so much we came back the following evening. The restaurant was not very busy on the Thursday evening and we received superb service from Joe - a very keen young man. The food prepared by Dan in the kitchen was very good. The Friday evening was a lot busier but we still received efficient & friendly service from Katelyn. The only downside during my stay was guests in the room above jumping up & down at 6am & waking me up - not the hotel's fault but rather inconsiderate.
