This doesn’t half go on, but hopefully it’ll be of some use and inform your decision making. The villa is in a lightly populated area, not quite back of beyond, but well on the way there. We like that though. It’d be a bit grim without a car and 45 minutes journey time from the airport is about right. Entrance in from the road is a bit tight and you’re unsighted when pulling out, be careful, take your time and it’s fine. A mirror would be handy though. We got there about 14:15 on the Saturday and could see the villa hadn’t been cleaned and the linen hadn’t been changed. The information we had suggested it should all have been done by 15:00, we thought this was cutting it a bit fine and used the TUI messaging service to check whether we’d been forgotten. About 15 minutes later two vans of cleaners turned up and blitzed the place. Overall, we’d rate the cleanliness of the finished job at 4 – 5 out of 10. Housework isn’t high on anyone’s agenda when they’re on holiday and a fortnightly 30-minute visit from the cleaners isn’t enough to stay on top of things, and it shows. Next thing we noticed was the safe wasn’t working. Now, we saw this had been reported in July 2024 and assumed, incorrectly as it turned out, that it would have been fixed. We also noticed that the shower tap in the bathroom was inoperable (also mentioned in 2024) because it’d been cranked closed so tightly. So, back on the TUI messenger. A lady and gent turned up shortly afterwards and after about 20 minutes they managed to get the shower working, the bathroom is generally worn out, rusty bath, well-worn fittings and the toilet is stained. We gave it the once over with disinfectant spray, antibacterial wipes and air freshener and decided we’d cope for a fortnight. The chap also queried if the provision of a safe was in our contract and seemed surprised we’d expected it to work; he signed off by asking if we’d paid out tourist tax and departed. They’re very hot on the tourist tax and this wasn’t our last reminder. Be careful to use Mauter’s booking number when paying. if you use TUI’s booking reference (like I did) you’ll get more reminders and queries. TUI contacted the villa company regarding the safe which acknowledged broken safes were an ongoing problem, something needed to be done but the man that did them wasn’t available. TUI seemed willing to force the issue on our behalf, but it’d have taken days to resolve. They did issue a goodwill payment though and we took our valuables with us when we went out and hoped the car wouldn’t get broken into. Which it didn’t. The kitchen (and the villa overall) is a bit light on power sockets, that said we tend to use a UK spec trailing sockets with a UK/European adapter for the bits and pieces we travel with. Didn’t touch the microwave, oven or coffee machine. We used the hob and kettle and they’re perfectly serviceable, dishwasher is fine, if a bit beaten up, fridge / freezer does a sterling job. The cupboards smell quite strongly of dam
