We visited Mandawa for a weekend getaway with quite a few apprehensions about the place and the hotel, but our experience completely changed our perspective. What Mr. Atul Khanna, the owner of Vivaana Culture Hotel, has achieved in this secluded part of Rajasthan is remarkable. He has beautifully revived an old, grand haveli, transporting visitors to a bygone era. What stood out for me was the balanced approach to restoration—unlike many heritage hotels, they haven’t gone overboard, preserving the authenticity while ensuring all basic modern amenities. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Mr. Simons, with his warm and hospitable nature, is a true asset to the hotel and ensured our stay was delightful. The food, especially the Laal Maas, was exceptional—a must-try! However, there’s room for improvement in the taste of other cuisines & beverages. Our visit to the Vivaana Museum Hotel was equally enjoyable. The in-house chef, Ms. Tripti, impressed us with her extensive knowledge of Rajasthani vegetarian cuisine and guided us in making the best choices from the menu. A special thanks to the museum staff, particularly a young lady (whose name I unfortunately don’t remember) and Mr. Rahul from the hotel, who gave us a detailed tour of the Vivaana museum and the other stunning havelis in Nawalgarh. I would highly recommend this hotel to heritage enthusiasts and photography lovers seeking a short, memorable getaway.
