Chora Resort Hotel & Spa

Clean hotel with an excellent location and a large swimming pool. A bus to the hotel waited at the port when we arrived on the island, so we didn't have to worry about how to get there.

Whether you're a couple, a family, or traveling with friends, I highly recommend the Chora Resort as the perfect place to stay on Folegandros. Big, lovely, well-appointed rooms, gracious service, wonderful pool and public areas, and friendly and professional front desk and management personnel make this a special place. Breakfast was sensational, with eggs cooked to order and delicious breads, salads, and fruit. Location is perfect -- a quiet site on the edge of the small town of Chora, but with shops, restaurants, etc, very close by. And all this at a very reasonable price. The photos on *********** don't do it justice! We loved the Chora Resort and would definitely stay there again.

Why so many stars? At a first glance it seems a good resort but it is not worthwhile. Very expensive for what we got. Average breakfast, small rooms, our bathroom was ugly for the price we paid (with a bath maybe good in the of 80s). The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool and this is the only reason we give this rating. Overall not terrible but it is too expensive for what it offers. No luxury at all.

The resort had everything and was not lacking in anything. The staff were friendly and very clean facilities. The beds were very firm.

We stayed at this hotel in early May for two nights en route between Santorini and Milos. We were attracted by the star rating and the possibility of a rest in our schedule. We had not appreciated that the complex would not be fully open nor that the beginning of the season in Folegandros is much later in May. The Resort has we believe 24 rooms and suites in single and two-storey units around a pool on the edge of Chora Town. It provides free transfers to and from the Port. Were residents wishing to drive to or drive whilst in Folegandros the hotel has private parking. There is a public bus from Chora to the Port. There is a dedicated reception area upon entry into the Resort grounds. We found the staff less than engaging, and whilst pleasant and with good English, a little off-hand. Sadly the first room we were offered had deficient aircon/heating and we had to move to a second room which whilst acceptable was on several levels with two flights of steps which we found intimidating without rails because we are elderly. That said the room was of a good size, with a desk and chair. There were no tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of storage but otherwise was disappointing. It had an over-bath shower on an undersized bath. Even in this replacement room the plug to the wash-hand basin did not function and had to be repaired the next day. Housekeeping was satisfactory as was Wi-Fi. The room – which had an extra bed space provided via a cushioned shelf - was comfortable and (with working aircon/heating) warm. We did not experience any noise from the complex - but it was thinly occupied – and nothing from the nearby road. Whilst we saw no wholesale provision for disabled access we believe that any guests with mobility problems could enjoy the resort but might find Chora Town too steep to navigate in the Kastro area. Breakfast is provided in a dedicated room adjacent to the bar. It also serves as a restaurant but was not providing dinners whilst we were in residence – it provided snacks up until 6pm. The restaurant- when operating - is open to the general public. When we were there the bar closed at 9pm. Because the complex was not fully open there was no pool bar, there was no opportunity for outside eating, and breakfast was a curious process of ticking items required on an individual list. It cannot be described as anything other than OK. We found no evidence of the Spa – nor was it offered. The pool area was large with various swimming areas, sun loungers were plentiful and there were some covered seating. It was too cold for us to use it. We sought dinner in Chora Town and found that - even for vegetarians - whilst there was not much choice of establishment we could get a satisfactory meal. Generally good with a decent breakfast and nice pool. Nicely located just outside the centre of Chora but only 400m from the centre. Some rooms are quite small and the staff friendliness varied a lot. For details of our experience, please read below. The hotel is nicely positioned on the outskirts of the lovely town of Chora. It’s attractive but it’s a stretch to think of it as a ‘resort’! The beautiful pool dominates the ground and the rooms surround it. Our room (standard, garden view double) was somewhat bijou. If we had wanted to unpack both our suitcases we’d have struggled to put everything away. The 5ft bet was tucked into a corner so getting into one side entailed clambering over the bed itself. The bead head comprised a concrete arch so sitting up in bed was very awkward. There were no individual bedside lights either. We discovered that our bath/shower had a big crack across the middle as we showered before dinner.it was possible to stand astride it so as not to make it leak - but very awkward! How was this not spotted when it was cleaned (and supposedly disinfected) after the previous guests? We reported it that evening on our way out to dinner and we’re promised that it would be looked at in the morning. Sure enough, after breakfast one of the maintenance staff confirmed that it was unusable and we were given a new (better) room. The new room had a 6ft bed, sitting area and a larger, smarter bathroom. Breakfast was good, although without any prepared fresh fruit (apples, pears and oranges were available to peel) but with good cooked options. It was eaten at tables around the pool and a few in the breakfast room itself. The crazy golf ‘course’ has seen better days and the games room described on the website doesn’t exist. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful but the breakfast and bar staff didn’t seem particularly friendly. Overall a decent hotel but we’d try somewhere else if we came again.

Everything was perfect.

Wonderful facility and location. Very short walk to the busiest part of Chora while being quiet and intimate. Plentiful surrounding food options. People in town and resort were welcoming and knowledgeable. Car rental was next door.
